Maya's POV
Thank god it's Friday. I just have to get through seven hours and then I get to be alone for two and a half weeks.
I'm too depressed at this point that I don't even care what I look like today. I just throw on a sweater and leggings. Everyone will know that Lucas and I broke up when I show up already so they probably would expect that I look like a train wreck.
I truly look like a wreck. My face is red and swollen from all the crying I've done in the last twelve hours. I've been crying since the moment Riley left my apartment with a huge smile on her face.
But that's good. She got what she wanted.
I take my time walking into school so that I don't have to see Lucas. I don't want to see anyone especially Riley or Farkle.
The school day goes by and it's all a blur. Scotty tells me half a million time during math that Lucas is looking at me but I don't even look up.
I don't deserve for him to look at me like that. I broke his heart.
What I do deserve is Farkle completely ignoring me during science class. He doesn't even look up at me.
It suddenly feels like it's me against the world. And just for that I sit in last period five minutes later than everyone else just so I can go to my locker alone without anyone watching me.
Sure enough nobody is in the hallway. I take my time putting books into my bag and when one of my books falls to the ground I don't bother trying to catch it.
"I'm not gonna stop loving you," a voice says from behind me.
I put the book into my bag and focus on my locker and not Lucas.
"Would you just look at me?" Lucas cries.
I shut my locker door, "Excuse me I must be getting home now."
But he doesn't move out of the way instead he steps in front of me blocking me from moving forward.
"Maya please explain to me what happened between us."
"I told you what happened last night."
"I don't believe you. Maybe at first it was a bet but now you have to feel something."
I do. I really do.
I shut my eyes in an effort to keep the tears from coming.
"Maya I don't care if it was a bet at the start just tell me it's not now and I'll forgive you."
"I can't do that."
"Yes you can."
"Your pushy."
"And your wrong."
"Maya I'm not wrong. I'll prove it to you."
"How-"
Lucas's lips crash onto mine within seconds. His hands find my waist and I mine wrap around his neck.
Suddenly I don't care about making Riley happy it's my turn to be happy.
