Chapter 20

Maya's POV

Once school was over I rushed home to start getting ready for dinner with Lucas's parents. My mom wasn't home to help me pick out and outfit but Riley texted me telling me to wear something beautiful. After trying on all the dress I thought were beautiful I decided on a black dress with flower pattern.

My hair took an hour to curl and then place up in an side bun and because it was a dinner with his dad I put on a little bit of makeup. My phone went off messing up my mascara on my right eyelashes.

"Hello?" I answered while trying to wipe the mascara off my face.

"Maya?" It was Riley, "What should I wear tonight?"

I had totally forgot Farkle and her we're going out tonight as well to see a movie.

"You could have just texted me."

"I didn't know if you would see it or not," Riley sighed through the phone, "What should I wear?"

She wasn't the one wearing a dress to impress people tonight so she could wear whatever. Lucky her.

"It's a movie so a cute hoodie and jeans."

"Cool. Call me later tonight after the dinner."

"Okay."

I hung up the phone and finished fixing my makeup quickly.

My mom got home just in time to say goodbye and give me money for the taxi cab, "Have fun tonight."

"I will," I said walking out the door.

"Just not too much fun," she added.

The front door to Lucas's apartment opened up and Lucas stood there speechless.

I giggled, "Just the reaction I was looking for."

"Umm....whoa... I mean...Wow," Lucas struggled to find the right words.

My heart does this little flutter again and I look down at the ground, "So are you gonna let me come in?"

Lucas didn't say anything again he just kept staring at me making me blush. He didn't stop staring until Jake walked over and hit him on the head.

"Are you gonna let her stand out there all night?" Jake asked.

"Huh?" Lucas began, "Oh yeah. Come on in Maya."

Lucas opened the door up more and I stepped in. I looked around the room and saw that Lucas's dad was sitting in the kitchen taking to Lucas's mom. Lucas grabbed my hand a led me over to them.

"Dad this is Maya," he pointed towards me, "Maya this is my dad."

Lucas's father stuck out his hand and I shook it, "It's a pleasure to meet you Maya. I've heard many thing about you from Lucas and my wife."

I gave Lucas a look once I found out he talked about me. He shrugged his shoulders and he's cheeks turned a little red.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too sir," I smiled.

"Pretty and respectful. I like you,"
Lucas's dad smiled back.

"Lucas dinner isn't quite ready yet but we don't you go into the family room and hang out," Lucas's mom said while stirring a pot.

Lucas lead me down the hallway to their family room and plopped down on the couch. I sat down next to him and fiddled with the zipper on my boot while Lucas talked about something.

"Hey are you okay?" Lucas asked breaking my train of thoughts.

"Yeah. I guess I'm just nervous or distracted," I let out reassuring smile.

"Okay. We don't have to talk if you don't want to," Lucas offered.

"Then what would we do?" I stupidly asked.

Lucas leaned over planting a kiss on my lips, "Oh yeah that's way better than talking."

I gave him another kiss and he pulled away, "I like it when you wear your hair up. It looks really pretty by the way."

"I hope it looks nice it took forever to do," I replied.

"You know you don't have to try to impress me anymore to get my attention. My eyes are only on you."

I blushed again and Lucas leaned in kissing once more.

I dawned on me that I didn't have to dress up for Lucas at all. I could have come in jeans and he would have been perfectly fine. I dressed up to make a good impression on his dad because I cared of what him and his family thought about me.

"Lucas dinners ready," Jake called interrupting this kiss.

Stupid Jake ruining everything. Lol just kidding. But you guys shouldn't be happy with me yet because the good is coming to and end.
