How do you prevent the ugly zombies from getting in your prized shelter? With a barricade! Block up all windows, doors, trapdoors, and skylights with anything you have inside the shelter. (Don't use your weapons. You will need those in fine condition.) Place spikes, pits, dogs (do they work? Maybe not.), tripwires, mines, and literally everything you have to keep them out, funnel them into one area, kill most of them, or anything else. Also make sure there are guards inside to blast any zombie that gets in. The only problem is that somebody might get locked out.

6. Rescue and escape route
You will want to escape the undead at all costs so you might either go to another place, or call for help. By help, I mean military soldiers and generals who come in helicopters,(like in those movies/games, though I'm not sure if it can really happen.), ready to help and escape or other survivors also needing help (like in those movies/games, though I'm not sure if it can really happen.). Assuming they are still alive.
As for escape, get to a place with not much population so that zombies won't infect others. Get far from where the apocalypse started. This way, you will have time to stock up on weapons, ammo, upgrade your weapons, food, plans, find other survivors, get prepared, call for help, and finally, wait till the zombies will come. Oh wait bad idea, please scratch that.
