Tsukishima Kei's POV
More than two months— that's how long she has been in the hospital.
[Surname] said she's getting stronger as days go by but I didn't know if I could believe that. Trust me when I say I want to but I didn't know if I could when the way she looked like isn't close at all to how she was before.
"Tsukki, do you think she'll get better soon?" Yamaguchi asked.
"I don't know," I replied.
'I hope she does.'
Yamaguchi and I stood beside each other as we took the elevator to the sixth floor. Despite the fact that we both liked the same person, things didn't change between us— something I was truly grateful for. Other than [Surname], Yamaguchi was the only one close to me. Although I've never outright told him, I knew that he knew he means a lot to me as well.
The elevator stopped, telling us we finally reached the sixth floor. Yamaguchi and I walked out as soon as the elevator doors slid open. While walking, we were suddenly pushed aside by nurses who were running towards the end of the hall, their voices overlapping each other.
'Wait a minute.'
My eyes widened as I realized what room they were running to.
"Tsukki," Yamaguchi said, probably realizing the same thing.
"I know."
They were running to 611– [Surname]'s room.
"Tsukki, should we-"
"Tsukishima-kun."
Yamaguchi and I turned our heads and looked at the person who called me. The person had a white coat on over her white polo and black jeans. She had long black hair that was tied up in a ponytail— it was messy, probably tied up in a hurry. I knew her. She had the same [e/c] eyes [Surname] had only lighter. She was Nanami Umeko, [Surname]'s aunt.
"Nanami-san, what's happening?"
"You two, you should go for now," she said, giving us a nervous look. Her left thumb went over her right hand's fingers repeatedly as she continued. "[Name] isn't open for visitors right now. Now, if you'll excuse me. I need to go to her."
"Nanami-san!" I said, my voice a little louder.
[Surname]'s aunt looked at me but I could see how much she wanted to turn away.
"Is [Surname] okay?" I asked.
"I'm sorry I need to go now," she said.
I could only watch as Nanami-san ran to [Surname]'s room.
"Tsukki," Yamaguchi said.
'I don't know if she was just really in a hurry or if she was avoiding the question. Whatever it is, both options still scare me.'
"Let's go, Yamaguchi," I said, turning towards the elevator.
"Okay, Tsukki."
