We headed up the stairs, both winded by the time we reached the top.I wondered how long we've been stuck here, the whole mess felt likes days since the last I've slept and don't get me started on eating. If my heavy breathing doesn't give me away next time we see a licker, my growling stomach will. The storage room at the top had a panel that matched the one downstairs, the only difference was that it wasn't flashing. A device was plugged into it as well, so I took it off to see what it was. "It's a Signal Modulator" Leon informed me as I flipped it around. "What does it do?" I asked having never heard of such a device. "I can't really explain it, but it'll help with that panel downstairs. First, let's finish checking out this place," he said heading through the set of doors. We were back in the same lobby that led to the greenhouse. Before Leon began heading over when a gut feeling told me to go back downstairs with the modulator."Wait, I think we should go back" I suggested taking ahold of his arm to stop him. "Why?" "I'm not sure, but somethings telling me we need to put this into the panel downstairs" Leon stood in thought, clearly not wanting to go back to where the licker was.He sighed heavily before shaking his head yes. "Fine, but stay behind me" Don't need to tell me twice.I could tell Leon was scared by how tense he was holding the handle. Resting a hand on his bandaged shoulder he instantly relaxed as I held up my pistol. "Ready?" he asked giving me a tight lip smile, nervous about having to go back in there. I nodded my head yes, as he passed the flashlight to me. It squeaked as he opened it, which may as well been the dinner bell. Aiming the light around, there was... no licker was in sight. Where the hell is this bitch."Come on" Leon urged stepping in and looking around. I followed behind him till we were back in the lobby with the panel. "Maybe it left?" he offered in a hushed voice, not wanting to push our luck by talking too loud. Staying silent I shrugged before taking out the heavy device. MURF was displayed in yellow on the panel, as well as on the modulator. Other types of signals were listed as well, the current one being OSS. It looks like I just needed to match the signals. twisting the knob a bit, it switched over to MURF, but the lines didn't match up with the diagram. "For fuck's sake" Muttering under my breath, I played around with it finally lining up the signals and placed the device onto the panel. The machine hummed to life before a loud click went off and the power came back online. Harsh fluorescent lights filled the room, blinding me. I was so used to the dark, my eyes had become super sensitive. I squinted, looking around the bloody room, spotting Leon a few feet away looking for the licker. "Maybe it really is gone," Leon said turning around to face me. As I opened my mouth to speak, a shrill screech sounded from behind Leon. The licker crawled out from behind the corner and dove towards Leon who was still turning back around to face it. Just as the licker made contact Leon fired his gun right into its chest. It did little to stop it as they both crashed to the ground. "Leon!" I screamed, aiming my gun as he wrestled with it, trying to keep it from biting him. "Shoot it!" he yelled but I hesitated, my aim wasn't as good as his, what if I missed and shot Leon!Lowering my gun, I spotted a piece of wood, a broken leg of a table. Grabbing ahold of it, I charged the Licker, stabbing it deeply into its back. It screamed in pain as I kept my hold on the wood and twisting it. The licker flailed about, instantly forgetting about Leon as I wrestled to pull it off him. Grunting I put all my body weight into bending backward, throwing the licker back next to me. It landed on its back, the force sending the stake clean through its back, blood spraying out and dosing me. Its cries of pain intensified and became deafening. Leon wasted no time in jumping up and shooting the beast, its body jolting with each shot. After the fourth shot, its cries eased and it stilled, a pool of blood surrounding its body. "are you okay?" I asked Leon who was wiping his face with his arm, groaning in disgust."I think it spit into my eye" he complained as I scrunch my face up in disgust. Gross. "Ew, that's what you get for jinxing us" I joked, heading over to where the Licker came from. There was a large office with a large bay window looking into another type of lab. Frost covered the edges of the window on the other side. Pressing my fingers against the glass as I walked I could feel just how cold it is in there. I shivered, not looking forward to exploring that lab. A dead lab worker was propped up against the wall, her head hanging limply, not wanting to waste any more ammo, I ran past her, just in case she was reanimated. The lab was colder then I thought, each breath I took formed large clouds of fog as I hugged myself, looking for anything useful. A large cooling machine sat in the middle of the room empty. The vial Leon was carrying around looked like it would fit, but it wasn't important, we had no need to freeze it. "come on, there's nothing here. You're gonna freeze to death" Leon said, pulling me into him as we exited the cold room. I shivered, rubbing my hands up and down my arms to warm myself up, somewhat regretting giving my sweater to Sherry. She needed it more though, stop being selfish Lara. "I think we missed something, lets head back to the greenhouse" Leon suggested leading the way back towards the ladder. "Okay"Now back in the humid greenhouse, we headed back towards the map room, when I spotted a hidden walkway. It was covered with greens, making it hard to see. Tapping Leon's shoulder, I pointed towards the door. "Look" "Let's go see if it's unlocked," he said pulling apart some vines and heading down the small set of stairs. The door labeled drug solution lab was locked, but thankfully Leon had the passcode from the trophy. He quickly ran back to the map room and plugged in the code. A ding sounded from the door and I headed in without waiting for Leon. The room was void of any zombies giving me free terrain to explore. To the left of me was a machine with three tubes, each containing a separate amount of solution. On the bottom left held a slot for a vial, specifically the one Leon had. Speaking of said person, he strolled in having a look around, his eyes soon landing on me. "Can I see the vial?" I asked holding out my hand. "Sure" I slide the glass tube in and the machine came to life. "Manuel mode engaged, Adjust the amount of solution to match cartridge capacity" A red line came up on the left tube, telling us how much of the solution we needed. With the press of a few buttons, I was easily able to match the solution with the line. The light above the slot turned yellow, and the solution began to drain, filling up our vile. "Hey look at this" Leon called over from his spot by the desks. Taking the vile I headed over to him, as he read aloud the note he was holding. "Plant 43 Herbicide Synthesis, number one, place an empty cartridge into the solution dispenser. Then add the required amount of UMB No. 21. Finally, Cool immediately." He read, looking over to my raised vial. "Check and Check, now let's go freeze this so we can kill this plant."
