chapter 3

We stayed up just in time for the sun rise.
Rafe and I were alone at their house, his dad and sisters were gone for the weekend for some clean up on the coast. We sat on his roof, his arm wrapped around my waist and my head leaning against his shoulder.

"It's so pretty" I said looking out. 

Around 10am, I put on a hoodie of his and we left to catch the ferry. "Okay were good now" he laughed as I sat up in the seat of his car, I had to hide so no one will recognize me in his truck as we drive through our area. Once we drove through, I relaxed and watched the scenery pass by.

The Outer Banks...Paradise on earth as John B said.

I handed my ticket to the ferry lady and we found a seat outlooking the ocean, "You know I've never had this much fun with anyone before" He smiled down at me, "Like even with my friends, you're just the one I've broken all the rules for" he said, "promise-me" I said, "what do you mean?" he moved a strand of my hair behind my ear. "Promise me that even if- us- gets ruined, that I can always count on you to be there" I asked, my heartbeat increasing, scared of this not going the way I want it, "I promise" He kissed me and I smiled into the kiss.

The day consisted of us walking around little shops and getting lunch. We had some older lady take our picture near the fountain and we took some in the photo booth. "Aw" I gushed at his smile in one of the pictures, "you're so cute" I smiled at the picture.

We started to get tired of walking, we didn't want to miss the ferry, so we practically booked it across the center to make it in time. "Wait!" He shouted, stopping me in my tracks. I was confused, he ran back to a shop. I looked behind me at the people boarding the ferry, "Cmon Rafe" I grew impatient, I saw him sprinting back, "for you" he said, handing me two flowers he picked. He looked like a little kid giving his crush something, "we're gonna be late" I grabbed his hand pulling him to the ferry.

"Thank you, they're beautiful" I held the flowers in my hand, "not as much as you" He pressed a kiss to my forehead, I was blushing hella probably.

I played with the r around my neck as I relaxed in my seat. I yawned a couple times completely exhausted from today. When we got back to the car, I felt like a little kid. I immediately passed out in the front seat. "Chlo wakey wakey" I felt a poke on my cheek, I groaned trying to turn my body, "ow" I mumbled hitting something hard. I opened my eyes and saw the car door, We had arrived at Rafe's and I slept through the drive.

I immediately crashed once I set my head on his pillow. Rafe went to get food while he left me alone to sleep, he knew I'd be fine so he trusted it.

{ The next day }

"Hello boys" I greeted walking into Kie's dad's restaurant, "Chloe where ya been girl" Pope smiled, giving me a hug. "Ya know Kook territory" I said, making them laugh. Y'all think I'm joking? bahah.

We ate lunch and then John B wanted to go check out the motel that the key was from. "We gotta find out who it belonged too, I'm not sure they even know about the Grady white yet" we talked amongst ourselves.

JJ whistled, "I thought the chateau looked bad." "This place is a shit show" JB said taking in the view of the motel, "motel or meth lab" Kie spoke, "you be the judge" Pope and I both said at the same time, "Jinx" we said again, "you owe me a coke" I said, "dammit!"

"This doesn't look like a place someone with a Grady white would live" I said, pulling my sun glasses down my nose. "No. It looks like a place someone with a Grady white would get killed." Pope mumbled.

"This is your captain speaking. HMS pogue comin' in for landing" JJ said, sounding like he was on a radio. "We good?" JB asked JJ, getting off the boat, "Yee" he said. "Wait! Can I come?" I jumped up trying to put my hair up quickly. "No" both of the guys spoke, "PLEASEE" I said like a little kid and they gave up, letting me join.
