Watching Kurloz trudge up the stairs, Gamzee gently frowned, a little upset with what his older brother had said to him just then. You should know better than that, Gamzee. You know the Vantas boys don't go in that general direction. Well, maybe Kankri didn't, but with Karkat you didnt really know. Gamzee sometimes swears that while him and Karkat are making transtions between classes or hanging out in public or something, Karkat's eyes tended to stray particularly towards a young man that happens to pass by. Honestly Gamzee didn't have a problem with it, he really didn't, but every now and then it makes him stomach knot up with jealousy. Why couldn't Karkat look at him like he did those other boys? Because Gamzee was his best friend and therefore, eternally friend zoned.

He fixed the strap on his dark purple backpack, making his way to his first period. Upon entering the classroom, everyone whipped around to oogle at him, their eyes trained on him as he awkwardly took his seat in the middle section of the rows of desks, slumping down a bit, trying to pull the end of his hoodie to hid from their gnawing stares. The teacher ignored Gamzee, not caring to stop his entire lesson just to ask some student why he was late. It didn't matter, he figured, all he would do was dock 5 points from the boy's credits for the day. He continued about his History lesson on The Civil War as Gamzee unzipped his backpack loudly, pulling out a black spiral notebook and a pen, flipping to the last page he left off at and sprawling down whatever was on the board.

Suddenly, his thigh vibrated violently, tickling a little bit. Digging into his baggy jeans he carefully flipped open his phone, seeing he had gotten a text from Karkat. Gamzee felt his heart jump in anticipation.
Hey, we have some free time and I figured to say hi
Glancing up at the front of the classroom to make sure the teacher wasn't watching, Gamzee hurriedly typed back a message, clicking send and slowly shutting his phone so that it didn't make a loud snapping sound.
Haha hey bro! Lucky that you got done early, I think our lesson will take all period :0(

Looks like he fell behind a bit, he noticed. Just as he began to pick up his pen, the phone vibrated again. Subtly flicking it back open again, he fondly smiled at the tiny white box with the thin, spidery black letters.

Haha you suck!!!!
Right as he was about to answer, a voice boomed right towards him. "Mr. Makara! If that's a cell phone, you better put it away before I decide to take it!" he snapped. Flushing a pinkish color, Gamzee mumbled an apology and slipped the purple phone back into his pocket. Eventually the bell rang, and the students lept up, crashing into each other in their hurry to rush to second period. Sighing, Gamzee followed behind the raging mob.

Karkat was one of the first of the kids out of the cramped classroom, slouching on his way to Biology. When he got to his table he threw his black backpack onto the cold table top, crossing his arms and placing his head down to scowl at his classmates as they slowly filed in, talking too loudly. There was a scraping sound as his lab partner pulled their chair out and scooted it back in, their phone making clicking sounds as they hurriedly typed in a text message to whoever they were talking to. After a snapping sound was loudly emphasized, they turned towards Karkat, catching the raven haired boy's attention.

"Hey, Vantas."

"Strider." Karkat grumped, not missing a beat. The blonde boy smirked in return, unphased by the grouchy behavior of his partner. Flipping his bangs, he poked the lines between Karkat's eyes.

"You know, my bro told me that if you frown too much, you'll get frown lines when you get old. So like, check your shit bro." He teased. Karkat snapped upwards, swating Dave's hand away from his face, glaring at the so called 'cool kid'. "Oh, fuck off, Strider! I could honestly care less about my physical appearance, or what your older brother has to say about it for that matter. Some people aren't so shallow as to base someone off of their fucking looks, unlike you lame assed Striders." Dave stared blankly back at him, then, very curtly, said, "You're starting to sound like your brother who acts like he needs to preach everybody on every single conversation." Karkat's face was growing red from anger as ge growled back at Dave. Just as he opened his mouth to say something back, the teacher waltzed in, greeting the classroom warmly with a clap of her manicured hands. "Okay class! Today's lesson will be on chromosomes!" Karkat cringed at her excited demeanor over something so boring. Glancing at his sweater pocket, he noted how Gamzee still hadn't texted him back.
