Unfortunately for Karkat he had forgotten his science book in his locker when he had tossed it away in that metal death trap that morning. The teacher kindly asked if Dave would share his with Mr. Vantas considering his lack of responsibility to remember to bring his own textbook to class. Responsibilities? He was 13 for crying out loud, what responsibilities could he possibly have? At the end of the lesson the students had to turn towards their books to do their Lesson Check for the end of that chapter. Dave tilted the book at an angle so that both boys could see the questions.

Although, if Karkat could be honest, he'd rather talk to Dave about something a little more personal than chromosomes. Chewing on the metal end of his pencil, Karkat lifted his black eyes towards the blonde. "Hey...Strider, can I talk to you about something?" he asked a little uneasily, clacking his fingernails against the smooth black table top. Dave didn't glace up from his notebook as he scribbled something down in thought, but nonetheless still answered Karkat with a simple, "Sure bro,"

"It's about Gamzee," Now Dave laid his pencil down, turning towards the much smaller boy. He nodded for Karkat to continue. Swallowing thickly (only to discover that his throat felt very tight and therefore made swallowing a little difficult), Karkat licked his lips hastily before sputtering out quietly so that the other students wouldn't overhear,  "I think I might love him. Maybe, I'm not very sure though, but feelings are definitely there." If Dave's eyes had widened then his shades covered it up wonderfully. Shifting awkwardly, he cleared his throat into his fist before focusing back on Karkat. "Okay well...that's not what I was expecting. Honest to God I just thought you were going to tell me how you two got into a serious fight or something. But wow,"He breathed, leaning back in his chair. Karkat nervously bit down on his nails, not looking Dave in the eye.

"Are you disgusted?" He finally got the nerve to ask around that tightness in his throat.  Dave's mouth popped open in shock, and he lunged forward into his chair again. "No! No way dude, I mean, if that's the side of the fence that you're supporting then I get it, you go. I just didn't expect it to be him of all people." Karkat sighed, laying his head on the table, his cheek pressed against the cold marble, closing his eyes in drearyness. "Oh God, this is so fucked up," he admitted.  Dave sympatheticly placed a hand on the raven haired boy's shoulder, giving it a gentle shake. Pursuing his mouth into a tight line, he finally gave the only advice he had to offer, "Maybe you should talk to him about it. Even if he rejects you, at least then you'll have it off your chest," he tried gently.

Peeking up at the blonde boy, Karkat slowly sat up. "That might be a good idea," he mumbled. Dave gave a small smile of reassurance. The bell rang and the students hurriedly began to pack up their belongings and speeding out for break with their friends. Karkat decide as he put away his pencil and notebook that he'd hang out in the library all day until he could find a way to get Gamzee away separately to have a private conversation with at the end if the day. Sitting at a round table and pretending to be paging through a romance novel (who was this anyway? John Green? Perfection.) when he felt his phone vibrare against his thigh. Flipping it open he felt his heart pick up once when he realized it was from Gamzee.

    Bro, where are you? :o(

He felt a little disapointed that his best friend was upset, but it was for the best for the both of them. He ignored the text and snapped the red phone shut. He needed to sort this all out for Gamzee's sake. Just as he began to get back absorbed into the book, the signal for the return to class shrieked it's ugly call. Sighing, Karkat closed the book, making a mental note to check it out at lunch.

All throughout the day Gamzee had blown up Karkat's phone, to which the latter continued to ignore with guilt. If course, there was no avoiding him considering that right after lunch was his 6th period, which he shared with his best friend. Once when he trudged through the door with the hard covered book under his arm,Gamzee's disgruntled face was instantly there infront of him, pulling Karkat to a secluded area of the classroom, clenching onto the top of Karkat's arm. When they were at a suitable distance from the other loud students, he searched the shorter boy's face with worry.

"Kar, are you mad at me or something? Why haven't you been answering me all day?" Gamzee's tone sounded so heart broken that Karkat was actually surprised by the accidental effect he had on him, his heart screwing up painfully at the stricken face of his interest. Throwing his hands up as if to defend himself, Karkat's words tumbled out of his mouth in an instant. "No, no Gamz, I'm not mad! It's just...I've been trying to sort something out and I didn't intend to hurt your feelings." The taller boy's face softened, now seeming concerned. "I was actually," Karkat started up again, "Wondering if we could talk privately after school? It's kinda serious." His black eyes pleadingly stared up at Gamzee in hopes that he'd agree.

Tilting his head to the side slightly, Gamzee frowned lightly, agreeing to the odd request. Relief shot through Karkat and he patted Gamzee on the shoulder as he walked himself to his seat on account of the teacher approching. English class went by remarkably quickly to Karkat's surprise (and impending fear). He gave a warm wave to Gamzee before trotting off to his 7th period. Now he was only 45 minutes away from admitting his pathetic feelings for his best friend who may or may not have feelings for Tavros instead. Afterall, they did both like trading raps and they clung onto each other a lot, breathless. Karkat could feel his stomach churn again.
