The Infernal King
By: queentroverted
Synopsis:"BUILD AN EMPIRE AND BURN IT TO THE GROUND."
The evening prior to the spring equinox, soothsayer and witch, Maarit Pheraios, has an earth-shattering vision regarding the future of Bonvalet. The prophecy speaks of the Infernal Prince, who takes the throne after the death of the king.
It is only when King Tevenot is murdered the following day that Maarit comprehends the urgency of the situation. Relying on her prophecy for truth, she notifies as many villagers as she possibly can about the peril that awaits them in the near future. However, when he learns of the warnings she has been giving, Maarit finds herself imprisoned by the Infernal Prince himself.

Review:
What a mellifluous book—fluid story telling. The plot is so smooth and consistent, filled with such gravities and morals. I love how, even after suffering through something so traumatic (I won't say what), Maarit is able to find the strength in herself. Additionally, a lot of other books have difficulty constructing the realism in such distressing situations that they fail to show the aftermath, like PTSD. Maarit, from time to time, recalls the event and is determined to not "mourn" it, when it should instead "mourn her." ALSO, I just love how she makes constant remarks about taking the crown and becoming a 'King.' Her character is so well-written!
