Lily and Hugo rushed to their potions class. "Oh, we're going to be in big trouble!" Hugo exclaimed as they ran into the dungeons. Both of them had managed to lose Gryffindor 15 points each in the past two weeks, this would surely make them lose another 10 points. They slowly slipped into the class without being noticed. That was until hands reached out and grabbed both of them by their sweaters. "Professor these children were 6 minutes late and tried to sneak into class without being noticed," said a snarky voice belonging to whoever was holding the two cousins. This caused Melissa and her two minions and a few students to snicker loudly.

"We're incredibly sorry Professor but the staircase led us to the second floor instead of the dungeons and it took a while to understand a way to get down here," Lily said as she looked at Professor Slughorn pleadingly. "Alright let them go, Professor Addleshaw," said Professor Slughorn as he looked at the person holding the two children. "Do you both promise to be on time from now?" Professor Slughorn said as he looked at one of his favourite students and her cousin seriously.

"We promise," Hugo and Lily said at once as they fixed their sweaters. Lily and Hugo turned around to look at the person who manhandled them and saw a rather thin and pale, blonde lady who had a long face, a straight nose, and piercing blue eyes. "You aren't going to punish them!?" said the Professor as she looked at Professor Slughorn incredulously. "No, I'm not going to punish them as it was a genuine mistake," Professor Slughorn said as he nudged the children toward their table.

"You all must be wondering who Professor Addleshaw is and why it is that she is here," Professor Slughorn said which caused the whole class to agree. "My name is Professor Gwendolyn Addelshaw but you all will be calling me Professor Addleshaw and I'm the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, I'm going to be helping Professor Slughorn out today," said Professor Addleshaw as she looked around the room. "What happened to Professor Sallow?" Olivia Blackwood asked aloud. "He had to leave as he had some personal problems" Professor Addleshaw answered rather rudely.

"I don't know about you but I think there's something wrong," Lily told Hugo and Poppy as they left the dungeons. "What do you mean?" asked Poppy. "Why on earth would Professor Sallow suddenly leave in the middle of the term,?" Lily asked. "Maybe he had personal problems just like Professor Addleshaw said," Poppy said as they walked to their charms class. "Maybe, but it just seems a little too weird as he didn't let us know about it before and he seemed quite happy with his job," said Lily.

"Alright we'll think about that later but first I need to know, why didn't you wait for us?" Hugo said as he looked at Poppy. "I'm sorry but I remember reminding both of you that we were going to be late, and I quite frankly did not want to be late and lose Gryffindor any more points," Poppy said angrily. This caused Lily and Hugo to gasp. "Well I guess you shouldn't hang out with us then, we might make you lose Gryffindor more points," said Hugo as he folded his arms across his chest. "Guys calm down" Lily started. "No, I think Hugo's idea is great" Poppy said as she stormed off.

Lily smacked her cousins head. "Ouch, why would you do that!?" Hugo asked as he rubbed his head. "You might have made us lose a good friend who would've been able to help us get to the bottom of the Sallow-Addleshaw problem," Lily said as she smacked Hugo again. "Ow! what was that for!?" Hugo asked angrily. "I just felt like it," Lily said as she smiled cheekily and pulled Hugo towards their next class.

"Hey, have you seen Poppy anywhere?" Lily asked Atherton as they sat down for dinner in the Great Hall. "No, I thought she would be with you two," he said as he continued to eat. "I think I saw her heading towards the Gryffindor common room," Octavia Finnigan said as her brother tried to turn his water into rum using his father's improvised spell. "Thanks, Octavia" Lily said as she took a couple of sandwiches in her hand and pulled Hugo along with her.

Hugo whined from the Great Hall until the common room about not being able to have any pudding. "Hugo I swear if I hear you whine about the food again I will write a long letter to Aunt Hermione who will surely send you a howler and I will turn you into a mouse," Lily said as they stopped in front of the fat lady. Hugo pouted as Lily said the password but didn't dare utter a word as he knew his cousin would live up to her promise.

Walking into the common room the two cousins found their friend sitting on a soft chair next to the fireplace as she sobbed quietly. "Poppy?" Lily said softly as she walked towards her friend who had a book in her hand. Poppy quickly wiped her tears and looked at her friends with puffy red eyes. "What's wrong?" Hugo asked as he looked at his miserable friend. "I'm so sorry, I reacted harshly, I'm having a hard time adjusting to life at Hogwarts, I don't want to mess up in any sort of way and I have never had any good friends before and I started to panic when you got close to me and started to get into a little trouble so I figured that if I pushed you away none of us would get hurt, but I guess I was wrong," Poppy said as she started to sob again.

"Oh Poppy, it wasn't your fault, it's my dumb cousins' fault and we came here so that he could apologize for his behaviour, right Hugo?" Lily said as she turned to her cousin. "I'm sorry Poppy for the way I reacted, would you like to continue to be friends with us?" Hugo asked as he rubbed his neck. Poppy smiled softly as she pulled both of her friends into a big hug.

"I would love to, but you both have to promise to be more careful and not lose Gryffindor more points," Poppy said as she looked at the two cousins seriously. "We promise," Lily and Hugo said as they crossed their fingers behind their backs and thought about what they were going to be investigating which could lose them some House points. "And you have to promise to tell us if you ever have any problem, you deserve to be as much as any of us, you're better than all of the students who are either purebloods or half-bloods so don't think about it, alright?" Lily said as she hugged her friend who in turn smiled brightly and nodded.

Hugo, Lily, and Poppy discussed their Professor's sudden disappearance as they shared the sandwiches Lily managed to get from dinner.
