Daily Ritual
you crumple into yourself
when that feeling unravels
so you try to stay grounded
and disappear for a momentbreathe in, breathe out
if it's overwhelming now,
you must gather all your senses—
hear the wind, the noise, the voicesfeel the air, feel the heat
the cold floor beneath your feet ,
feel the warmth inside your chest,
as your breathing starts to restso close your red-rimmed eyes
and think of clouds up in the sky,
think of blankets, think of seas
think of cotton-bearing treesthen repeat, until you're better:
"this pain will fade—won't last forever
i am here,
i am now.
i am here,
i am now."—
