Shay's POV

I was happy. I was back to my normal self. No ink parasite and no cast. Mom and I have managed to grow closer than we were before ever since we accepted our mother/daughter relationship. In fact, Esme and Boris moved my bed into mom's room since the two of us wanted the closeness. So now we slept in the same room.

Today was my date with Susie. I had no clue what her plans were, but she did have a two headed woman named Dellabelle come over with an outfit for me to wear. I smiled at my mother. "Thanks for helping me get ready mom."

She gave me a warm smile in return. "You're welcome my beautiful girl. Susie's going to adore you."

"Excited my love?" My angel asked. I immediately noticed her voice had changed.

"Very." I replied. "Your voice sounds different. It sounds... angelic."

She laughed. "Thank you, love. See you soon."

"See you soon Susie. I look forward to seeing the new you."

"I can't wait to see how ravishing you'll look in that dress." She purred.

I blushed at that, then saw a knowing smirk look on mom's face. "Susie?" She guessed as she brushed my hair.

My face turned darker. "Yeah."

She chuckled. "Figures considering how red your face was." She then stopped brushing my hair and backed away. "Done!" She declared with a clap of her hands. "Turn around. You have to see yourself."

I nodded, turned to look in the mirror Esme found, and gasped upon seeing myself. Like my mother, I wasn't the type of person to wear a dress, but the one I had on was a gorgeous grey, sleeved gown with beautiful black designs dancing all over its fabric. I also wore dark grey stockings, black court shoes, and dark grey gloves. The soft curls of my thick mahogany hair flowed in waves onto my shoulders before they cascaded down my back and stopped at my calfs.

"I really need a haircut." I mumbled.

Mom snickered. "You're absolutely stunning, and that's your reaction?"

I turned and glared at her. "It's ridiculously long." I wined. "Not to mention it's thick. I still think it should be thinned a bit. It's a pain to comb and brush."

"No thinning your hair." She denied while she absentmindedly stroked my hair. "Your hair is so uniquely thick, yet not ridiculously so. Nobody else has hair like it."

"I know, and I envy them." I retorted. "They're the lucky ones."

Mom shook her head. "But I adore the thickness of your hair." She mused. "It's so... soft. Softer than any pillow could ever be." She let out a sigh. "Honestly, in a way, I envy your hair. It's the perfect, natural pillow."

I let out a sigh of my own. "True." I agreed. I didn't bother using a pillow anymore. After all, why use one when your own hair was soft, thick, and long enough to function as one? "I just despise combing and brushing it." A thought occurred to me. Although if things work out with Susie, maybe I'll be able to get away with making her do it for me...

I was snapped out of my thoughts by a knock on our bedroom door. We both turned and saw Esme. "I... uh... well..." She stammered as she struggled to talk for some reason, before letting out a sigh and gave up entirely.

"Is Susie here?" I asked her hopefully.

The siren gave me a thankful look and nodded. She then stepped aside and made a 'come in' gesture. Then Susie walked in, and took my breath away in the process. She was... angelic.
