Lisa called Jennie on the phone.
"Hey babe!" Lisa said happily.
"Heeey, what are you so happy about?" Jennie questioned with a slight smile on her voice.
"Oh nothing, it's always nice to hear you!"
"Oh you, hahaha" Jennie said kind of mockingly. "It's nice to hear you, too." She continued in a more serious tone.
Lisa stopped for a second to collect her thoughts and to arrange, in her head, what she wanted to say to Jennie. Very quickly she began with her semi-frantic monologue:
"So listen, you know I like Irene Bae and her music, right?"
"Ugh, yes, you always talk about h-"
"Good!" Lisa cut her off before she could end the sentence, sending Jennie's annoyance because of of the mention of Irene's name. Jennie was kind of surprised by this, but she didn't comment on it.
"Anyway" Lisa continued "She has a concert in three days in Seoul and I want to go there. I know, it's a long flight, I know it will be expensive, but I have saved some money and I really want to see her!" She ended enthusiastically.
"Okay...." Jennie said confused. "So.... why are you telling me this? I mean, I get it, but... You're a big girl" They both laughed at that since Lisa was known to act childish from time to time. "you can do whatever you want."
"I know, but you're my girlfriend, and I wanted to let my girlfriend know where I would be in three days if I get the ticket for her concert and if I find a cheap flight to Seoul." Lisa stated triumphantly as if she already managed to do all of that.
"What do you mean, IF you get the ticket...? I mean, I know Irene sells out arenas in minutes, but still, you should be able to get a ticket if you order it on time."
"Yeah, well, the thing is, this won't be a tour. This is just a one-off concert. Her first acoustic one, actually. And it will be in a smaller club, at least I think it's a smaller club since there will only be a 100 tickets available in an hour on her website."
"A 100 tickets? Good freakin' luck!" Jennie laughed maniacally.
"Why so meean?"
"Oh come on, you know I was kidding" Jennie half-yelled annoyed.
"Okay, okay... I know, it's just..." Lisa went apologetically, wanting to avoid an argument.
"Aish... You sometimes..." Jennie grumbled. Lisa stopped for a second in order for Jennie to calm down. Jennie continued as if nothing happened:
"So, why go to her concert now?"
"What do you mean?"
"You've been following this girl for 2 years now. Why haven't you seen her sooner, why now?"
"Well, actually, as you know... I mean..." Lisa stumbled, but after a couple of seconds continued: "I haven't really thought about it too much. It's just that this past year has been really tough with all the changes - my exams got harder, some of the new professors at my college are awful, you got a new job and we are not seeing each other as often... I just wanted to relax and reward myself... I mean, there's nothing to reward myself for, but you get the point. I want to try something new! I haven't seen her before because things didn't work out as I thought they would, I don't know..."
Jennie scoffed at the part "not seeing each other as often" but didn't comment on it. Lisa was scared she would get angry again, but she couldn't help herself saying that. They both were silent for a second and then Lisa continued in a somewhat more hopeful tone:
"Look, if I pass my exam that I'm having tomorrow, I will go. I will find a way to see Irene. I know it's dumb. I know it's a long shot, but I really want to go."
"Okay! If you say so." Jennie answered apathetically.
"Okay babe, I have to go study now and prepare myself, the tickets will be available in an hour! I love you!"
"I love you too" Jennie said even more apathetically.
Lisa hung up and sighed. She really didn't like the way Jennie talked to her sometimes, but again, she felt kind of helpless since she didn't know what to change anymore or what to do to make her girlfriend feel happier in their relationship.
She shook herself out of her little trance because she didn't want to get discouraged. She knew she would find a way to make her happy again, but now she had to continue to study, and in an hour she will have to be extremely lucky to buy the ticket online.
Time flew by, refreshing Irene's website in order to order the ticket. She closed her eyes as the timer was set on Irene's page went from 1 to 0 seconds and then she clicked as hard as she could in order to get the ticket.
I will get it, I will get it, I will ge- Lisa froze. She got the ticket. she was the 23rd person to actually get it, at least that's what the website said.
"Oh my...Jisoos!" Lisa couldn't believe it. She stood there, watching at the website, a huge half-smile/half-surprised face plastered on her face.
She stood up from her chair and started to dance, immediately blasting Red Flavor from her speakers and jumping around like there was no tomorrow.
After a couple of minutes she somewhat calmed herself down, already starting to plot how to get to Korea cheaply. A small light bulb came on over her head and she immediately called her friend Chaeyoung.
"Heeey!" Chaeyoung answered happily."Hey, listen" started carefully.
"What?" Chaeyoung replied in the same tone as Lisa, trying to mock her for her careful tone.
"I.... bought a ticket for Irene Bae's concert!" Lisa yelled that last part.
"Oh my...! I'm so happy for you! Aaaaa!" Chaeyoung answered screeching, celebrating along with Lisa.
"Yeah! Yeah! So uh... the concert is in three days!"
"Oh wow"
"Yeah, I'll tell you more about it when we get together for a coffee or something, but now, I need you help."
"'kay, I'm listening."
"I know you know a guy who had a girl who once knew a guy..."
"Okay, get to the point"
"At least I think you knew a gu-"
"Lisa!"
"Okay, okay... Aish! I think you once told me you knew someone who knows how to get cheap airline tickets."
"Oh yeah, Yixing... He owes me a couple of favors 'cause I helped him out with the whole getting him and his family into the country thing. You know, for pulling a couple of strings here and there..."
"Oh Chaeng, you mighty, mighty young diplomat!" Lisa smiled while saying that.
"That's me!"
"I need a cheap airline ticket for Seoul in three days... I know it's gonna be tough..."
"Lisa, let me stop you right there." Chaeyoung stopped her as if she had the biggest news ever to reveal.
"What? What did I say?"
"Do you remember when I told you a month ago that I was going to visit Seoul on the 23rd of November?"
"The 23rd...? I thought you said it was going to be on the 25th!"
"Nope, definitely the 23rd!"
"Oh my..!"
"Yup... and since-"
"Oh my...!!!"
"AND... Since I already bought my ticket cheaply with the help from Yixing... I will ask him for a favor since I am that great..."
"I. Will. Owe. You. MY. LIFE!!"
"Haha, just be ready tomorrow to tell me all about this concert... And bring the money with you. I'll bring you your plane ticket tomorrow, I'll call Yixing today." Chaeyoung said smoothly.
"Okay! Okay! Oh my... I..."
"Breathe Lisa, breathe!" Chaeyoung joked. "I've got to go now, I have some things to do, talk to you later and uh...yeah...I will see you tomorrow"
"I love you Park Chaeyoung!" Lisa thanked her.
"I love you too haha, see ya!""See ya!"
Lisa sat on the floor of her room, looking at Irene's website with a smile on her face.
I can't freaking believe it. Finally, I will see Irene Bae perform live.
