"Oh Lisa... I'm so sorry." Chaeyoung spoke softly as they were downing their second beer at a local bar.
The whole day today Lisa was acting as if nothing happened last night between her an Jennie; in the morning she kissed Jennie before she went to her lecture, during the day she texted her a couple of times, and Jennie actually replied surprisingly well, even offering a couple of kiss emojis every now and then. Later on, when Lisa wrote to Jennie that she was going out with Chaeyoung after the interview, Jennie didn't attack her for not going with her to the aforementioned winter-themed wonderland.
Lisa just kept busy throughout the day, trying to distract herself from thinking about everything too much.
"You know, I mean, yeah..." She spoke, slurring her words a bit. Lisa was a lightweight when it came to drinking. She continued: "Today was... She was actually okay... She texted me normally, even with kisses and hearts!"
Chaeyoung laughed because of Lisa's slurring: "Oh! I'm glad to hear that."
"Yeah... But, you know... How long... How long before we start to fight again? And then what... Do we go like this forever? Are we that grumpy couple who doesn't kiss, doesn't hold hands and doesn't loooove each other?" She gave a sloppy wink towards Chaeng when she said the word "loooove" and Chaeyoung chuckled."Are we just going to be together because... we got used to each other? And then, on top of being used to each other, resenting each other?" Lisa was slurring and shouting a bit, but Chaeyoung didn't mind, she tried to understand how Lisa was feeling.
"Okay... But the question is Lisa, and remember, you have the power over this question - what do YOU want to do? Remember, before you would tell me that you want to fight for it, But tell me now... What do you want to do now?"
"Chaeng... It's not that simple." Lisa put her hands on the counter of the bar and then her head on top of her arms, trying to rest her head."Can I get two tequila shots please? I need to wake up this goofball, thanks!" Chaeng asked the bartender kindly and they both chuckled.
"Oh! Tequila shots! We're getting wild tonight!"
"Actually, I didn't plan on that, but since you're my friend, and this is an emergency and... I actually wanted to take a break from work in the most random way possible... Yeah... We're getting wild tonight! Woo-woo, cheers!"
"Woo-woo! Cheers!"
They downed their shots, and ordered two more beers and two more tequila shots.
"So I found this club, where only for tonight, they're having a Kpop evening." Chaeyoung smiled.
"Oh no you didn't!" Lisa's smile grew bigger.
"Yup, everything you like, from the older generations to-"
"IRENE BAE! OH YES! KEOJINEUN HEART B-B-BEAT PPALLAJINEUNDE!" Lisa started to dance in her seat, and Chaeng, being the kind friend that she is, joined Lisa in her mini-choreography.
"Chaeng... I'm sorry, I bored you again tonight with my problems. I promise, if you want to, we can talk about them tomorrow when I get sober. I thought I would want to talk about them tonight, you know, talking, drinking, discussing... But I don't want to spoil my night with dumb "old Jenlisa" problems. Let's finish this up and get to that bar you've mentioned."
"Sounds like a great idea! Cheers!" They downed their tequila shots again and finished their beers quickly, discussing Lisa's interview that happened that day:
"Oh it was great! I came to their building. They were really nice. They talked about my upbringing, looked at more of my photographs. Then we talked about Irene and the whole thing in Seoul. They really took interest when it came to my story, so yeah... I think it went well. They said I was one of the last interviews they were planning on for this month's edition, and that they expect it to be published digitally and in print pretty soon, actually."
"Oh that's so great!" Chaeyoung was proud and she hugged Lisa. This is going to help you to get the word out!"
"Yeah, they actually told me that they know these people from this other company... Basically what it ism if these people from this other company contact me, I could be working for them. At first small stuff - like nature shots and the city streets of Bangkok, nothing too fancy. But I was told that if you work hard enough, they send you to like sporting events and you basically photograph whatever they tell you to photograph."
"What happens then?"
"Well after that, the company can post their products online, showing their work, but also, the musicians and athletes and anyone else who you do the work for can keep the photos too and that's how you earn the money."
"That's great!" Chaeyoung was beaming with pride.
"Yeah!"
"Is it only stationed in Bangkok, would you be only doing work here?"
"As far as I could tell, yes. No going abroad. Which is okay. I mean, I would love to travel like we've discussed in Seoul but, you know... It's a start!"
"It's a great start Lisa, and I will be so happy for you if that company calls you!"
"Thanks Chaeng!.... Now, let's finish these beers and move our feet!"
They chugged the rest of their beers, paid their tab and went outside to catch a cab and to get to this club Chaeyoung was talking about.
They get inside the club and immediately start to dance with the rest of the crowd."Chaeng, this is such a great night!" Lisa shouted into Chaeyoung's ear as they were having a great time.
"I agree! Thanks for dragging me out of my apartment, you're the best Lisa!" Chaeyoung kissed Lisa on the cheek as they continued to dance.
The DJ in the club would encourage the crowd in between songs to "dance", "sing", and "Party hard". The atmosphere in the club was getting wilder and wilder.
At the pinnacle of the night, the DJ shouted while the beat was still playing:
"Party People, are you ready?"
The crowd enthusiastically cheered.
"This one's a new one but it's already our favorite in the club!"
The crowd cheered louder, waiting for the DJ to play the next song, all the while a beat was playing in the background.
Then the beat dropped and the song came out:
"Keojineun heart b-b-beat ppallajineunde!" It was RUSSIAN ROULETTE and everyone started to scream.
Especially Lisa and Chaeyoung:
"OH MY JISOOS, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! AAAA! THE JAM! THE JAM!" They screamed into each other's ears as the song was playing.
Near the end of the song, Lisa took out her phone to record the crowd dancing, They were dancing wilder and harder than on any other song and they were still screaming and shouting out the lyrics.
I have to send this to Irene. I know she has fans who love her music all over the world, but I've never seen the city of Bangkok get down as hard as they did on this song. I hope she'll like it. Lisa smiled as she filmed the crowd.
Okay, the footage is not great, but I hope she'll get the point - the crowd's reaction, that's the point. Hehe, they're so wild!
Later that evening, Chaeyoung and Lisa stepped out of the club sweating profusely.
"This was... We have to do this again, I love dancing." Chaeyoung spoke tiredly.
"I agree."
"Okay, let's go to my place, eat some leftover tuna salad and chill."
"You've got it Chaeng!"
As soon as they got to Chaeyoung's apartment, Chaeyoung went to the fridge to get them food.
"Look, I've filmed the crowd's reaction when Russian Roulette came on."
"Oh my, look at them go! And look at the number of people."
"Yeah I know, I didn't think this many people in Bangkok would go wild for an Irene Bae song."
"Maybe she'll come and do a concert here if she sees this footage." Chaeyoung chuckled."I hope that might have an effect... I mean, I know it's a long shot, and I know the management team always has to weigh in on a lot of factors... But yeah, why not?" Lisa spoke and hit the "send" button.
After the video was sent she wrote a little message that read:
Hey, sorry to bother you again with ANOTHER morning text hahaha. My friend and I were out last night and this was Bangkok's reaction when your song came on! :* Hope you enjoy it!
After that, the girls ate their food in peace and went to sleep, Chaeyoung on the couch and Lisa in Chaeyoung's bed.
What a great evening. Lisa drifted away while smiling.
