Chapter 17: Under Their Noses

As you, Toga, and Twice walked back to the hideout, guilt and panic was swelling up inside you at a rapid rate. After everything Kai had done, you left him during a very dangerous moment. You kept telling yourself you'd go back, but when? You also found out about the League betraying him so the Yakuza and the heroes could hopefully fall together, but you refuse to let that slip by. You and Kai built a bond of trust, you were just starting to get to know him and you couldn't just leave it lying there.

You walked in the hideout, Shigaraki, Spinner, Dabi and Compress were getting ready for something.

"What's going on?" You muttered, hoping that the leader wouldn't be troubled from your appearance.

"We're going on a mission, but don't think you're off the hook since you came back." Shigaraki hissed, what you feared had just come a reality. You could already see it, all five of his fingers on one (or possibly more) of your body parts, watching them fade away with a smile on his face.

"C-Can I go?" You gulped, after hearing what they were up to during all this time, you knew just exactly what they were planning to attempt... revenge. You had to tell him what he wanted to hear, just enough to convince him to let you go.

"I know I've slipped up, but I know my purpose now and I need to fulfill that role." You clenched your fists tightly.

"Whatever, but you only get to watch. It's going to take time for my trust in you to come back." You nodded at his words, grateful that he even gave you a chance to tag along.

You sat in the back of a large truck, watching Dabi and Compress. You could hear Dabi cuss out Spinner, who was driving and for some reason, Shigaraki had to be on the truck.

Once you saw a police car driving with a large black truck, you saw Dabi release a large wave of blue flames.

"Woah..." You marveled, you heard Dabi let out a "tch" as a response. Once you saw the truck slow down, Dabi, Shigaraki, and Spinner jumped into action.

"This is it, they said Kai was in that truck! I can't afford to slip up!" You smacked your cheeks with both of your hands, bringing yourself to your senses.

You jumped out the back of the truck, lab coat around waist and bag around your shoulder. Dabi had questioned before why you always carry it but you kept shrugging it off.

There he laid, arms restrained, his dull golden orbs staring at the sky as all of his dreams and goals were destroyed before his eyes. The sight was awful, you tried not to cry yourself. You approached your team mates as they stared down at Kai, you saw Compress pull out one of his shiny blue marbles and you knew at that very moment, you had to take action.

"I'm sorry, Master, but I've made my choice." With a mix of fear and panic, you used quirk, the mist spreading like wildfire.

"You bitch! What the hell are you doing!?" Shigaraki hissed, clawing at his face as his eyes stung with immense pain. Compress was on the ground in a ball, rubbing his eyes to try and relieve the intense burning sensation.

"Agh! It hurts! Why are you doing this!?" Compress shouted, you could see Dabi in the distance but he shrugged it off and walked back to the truck, not a care in the world.

"Because... I'm a villain..." You muttered, you knew the effects would last for a short while so you had to act fast. You grabbed a blunt object from the rubble of the truck that was carrying Kai and smashed his restraints.

"Why... are you doing this...?" He mumbled.

"Because I love you, Kai. Don't think things were gonna end when we were just getting started!" You giggled, with one harsh bash, his restraints were free. You helped him up and you encountered a whole new level of panic, how would you escape?

You looked around, stone walls rimmed the highways and all sources of transportation were either destroyed or occupied. You had no choice but to run.

"K-Kai, I hope your legs are in good shape. Same for your quirk, we may have to use it just a little." You chuckled nervously and wrapped his arm around you just in case he couldn't walk well. The effects of your quirk were starting to wear off slowly.

You sprinted into action, Kai surprisingly kept up, most likely the adrenaline. You both kept running until you could see the League fade off in the distance behind you.

After a lot of running, and avoiding cars, you made it off the highway and turned into a back alley in a small city area. You snuck into an old building and leaned Kai against the wall in an old office. You sat down on the floor, catching your breath, Kai doing the same.

"You idiot... why? You just betrayed your whole team." Kai breathed out, looking up at the cieling. You crawled over and sat beside him.

"Because I figured out what I want to do, I want to be with you. Sure, if I go back, Shigaraki will most likely kill me, but I'm okay as long as I'm with you." You leaned against his shoulder, he didn't respond, instead he rested his head upon yours.

"Where's the Hassaikai's second location from here? We can probably make it there later, you don't look so good right now so we'll rest for the time being." You chuckled.

"It's not very far..." He muttered.

"Jeez, why are you so down? I expect you to be big and bad like normal."

"Considering the situation I'm in, that's not very easy." He sighed.

"Are you sure? Look what I have!" You giggled and held out your bag.

"It still has everything in it~ I've kept it on me ever since you told me that everything in here can rebuild your status!"

You saw Kai's eyes widen as his mouth slowly gaped open, like he'd be saved.

"What's wrong? Cat got your-" At that instant, you felt his lips crash against yours into a passionate kiss. It didn't last very long, but it felt like eternity, you felt a spark ignite within you. Once your lips parted, he pulled you into a tight hug.

"Is this for me, or is it because I saved your ass?"

"Can it be both?"

"Of course!" You cooed, nuzzling into his chest.

"Let's rebuild the Hassaikai together... Kai."
