It honestly took you a while to calm down from the archery fiasco. You tried your best to keep away from Chanyeol, only managing to see him again at lunch and dinner.
But then, at dinner, the directors announced the first game of the competition would be held the day after tomorrow.
It caused quite a stir in the mess hall, and you urged your girls to rush through the rest of their meal so you could all reconvene and strategize in the cabin.
After sitting in a circle on the floor and talking for almost a full twenty minutes, you decided the best course of action would be to steer clear of Chanyeol and the boy's cabin as much as you possibly could. You were fairly certain they were only out to sabotage you, so the less interaction with them, the better.
Your plan turned out to be quite successful because you'd managed to fill the day with enough activities which kept you and the girls busy: taking a hike up the nearby mountain, swimming, making friendship bracelets (an activity you'd picked because you'd known Chanyeol definitely wouldn't be there), and a nice, meditative session of yoga. You even volunteered your cabin to do the dishes after dinner so you wouldn't risk running into the boys on the way back to your cabin.
You did see him a few times, including at lunch and dinner, and you noticed he was purposefully avoiding you. He was most likely executing the same plan as you were, but... I don't know. There was something fishy about it...
You tried to push your suspicious thoughts out of your head because maybe that was actually his plan: he was trying to act fishy so you would overthink it and lose focus on the game.
That wasn't going to happen.
When you woke up the next morning, you were a bit hesitant to admit you had anxious butterflies in your stomach.
You just had to go three-quarters of the day trying to avoid Chanyeol before the game tonight, but if today went at all like yesterday, you would have no problem.
You took your girls out to the stables that morning, letting them explore the marked horseback riding trails for a few hours before it was time for lunch. It was a good escape, but it was also relaxing and just physical enough to get them warmed up for whatever game was awaiting them later on in the day.
As you were heading back to your cabin after eating lunch, you realized you honestly hadn't thought of Chanyeol at all as you'd been riding. You almost smirked to yourself thinking about how smart and clever your plan to avoid him had been. You really hoped you'd foiled plans he'd made to try and sabotage you. You'd seen him at lunch, of course, but again, he'd very obviously avoided you, so...
"All right," you called as you headed up the few steps to your cabin's front door. "Let's get a little rest, maybe wash up, and then we're doing some journaling down by the lake. Gotta get our heads in the right space for the game tonight."
You slid your keys out of your pocket and stuck them in the keyhole to unlock the door. But when you set your hand on the doorknob, you immediately grimaced.
Why was the doorknob all slimy?
You turned your wrist to try and open it, but... your hand just slid off.
"What the...?" you murmured.
You tried to wipe it off with your shirt, but it still left a residue, making it impossible to open the door.
"What is that?" one of your campers asked.
"I don't know..." You carefully brought your hand to nose to try and smell it, but it was odorless. "Actually, I think... it's... Vaseline?"
