"Guys, can we hush up for a second?" Director Ryan Finnerty called out to cast for a bit of silence while he spoke to Courtney.
He was walking her through her steps on set that day and needed a little silence from the rest of the cast a crew who were messing around by the pool. They were filming at an empty LA house for an Every Blank Ever and the sun was streaming down onto them as they set up for the day.
"Basically, you just need to walk around holding the basket, then say your line..." Ryan was speaking to Courtney but she had trouble concentrating on what he was saying because the two people ahead of her still talking.
Courtney found it frustrating that even after Ryan had asked for quiet, someone was still talking. Shayne and the new girl.
Her name was Kimmy, she was perfectly nice and really funny but she was getting on Courtney's nerves at this point. She'd actually really enjoyed meeting her and loved getting to know a new smosh girl, but recently she'd be talking more with the rest of the squad.
Specifically, Shayne.
The two of them were chatting and making jokes by the pool outside and while Kimmy giggled, Shayne was roaring with laughter. Courtney had no idea what they were saying but just the vision of Shayne with another girl was annoying her.
Of course she had no right to be angry with him. They weren't a couple of any kind. They didn't have any kind of romantic relationship. Yet, she couldn't help but be jealous.
It was complicated, before defy media shut down there were strict rules about workplace relationships so neither of them thought they could act on any feelings they might have had but that was such a long time ago and now with Mythical things were... different.
They'd both been pushing their feelings aside because they weren't allowed to act on them before and now they'd both got used to the feelings that they did it almost automatically. It had been months since the shutdown and they'd skirted around the subject.
Any now with a new girl starting Courtney believed that Shayne was jumping on the opportunity before anyone else.
"Everything okay?" Olivia approached Courtney from behind, who jumped out of her skin because she had entered a trance staring across at Shayne. "Court?"
"Yes? Yeah..." Courtney replied turning around to face her best friend.
"Are you okay? You kinda spaced out there..." She smiled sweetly until she looked beyond Courtney and towards the pool, where Courtney had been looking previously. "Ah, I see. New girl huh?"
"Kimmy, she's really nice." Courtney smiled turning away from the annoying couple.
"You know Shayne is just like that with everyone right? He likes making people laugh." Olivia defended the girl she hardly knew.
"I know, I know." Courtney hummed in agreement before a call came for her and she had to shoot her small scene.
At lunch Courtney was messing around with Olivia and Damien while making weird concoctions of food from the catering that was laid out on the kitchen counter in the house they had hired. Shayne walked past with his plate and headed towards the chairs set up outside by the pool.
"Shayne! Try this!" Courtney squealed holding a cracker with some weird looking gunk balanced on top.
"Ew no!" He laughed pushing Courtney's hand away from his face. "Stop trying to feed me the weird things you concoct with the catering food, Miller."
"Usual I'd agree with you dude but, I tried this one and I can vouch for Courtney when I saw this is hella sweet." Damien hummed picking up another from Courtney's plate and popping it in his mouth.
