•Courtney's PoV•

Tuesday morning. The guidance counsellor calls on me during first period. Mrs McKay's office was familiar to me. This would be my fourteenth session with her now. How time flies.

Her large, kind, eyes bled with sympathy whenever she saw me. This time they looked the same.

I rub my hands together nervously, they're wet with sweat and I'm still shaking from being up on the ledge of the roof only moments ago. My heart pounds in my chest as I wait for her to say: I know what you did this morning. I saw you standing on the roof of the school and I've called your Dad. An ambulance is outside ready to take you to the nearest mental facility.

Instead she gives me a small smile and starts with the usual procedure. "How are you, Courtney?"

"I'm fine." I say reluctantly. "And you?"

"I'm fine, but I'd like to talk about you. How are you sleeping recently?" Mrs McKay's face is in a permanent smile, but somehow it soothes me.

"I'm sleeping fine, thanks." I lie.

I stopped sharing my dreams with my Dad and Mrs McKay's because they'd always ask, everyday, like clockwork. So I started to lie, and in their opinion I was getting better.

The truth of the matter was, I was having nightmares almost every time I shut my eyes. Like the other night, I dreamt that my Mom was still alive, that she took my hand and told me that my time was up. I was to leave earth with her. I should of been thankful really, a painless way to join her would be great right now. But I still woke up in sweats in the middle of night at the thought of it.

Mrs McKay's voice brings me back out of my trance. "Have you driven yet?"

"No." I shake my head slightly.

"Been in a car at all?" She confirms, but she knows the answer already.

"No." I repeat.

The day I get in a car again I'll be running to Mrs McKay's house to tell her because she must have found a cure for whatever I'm feeling right now.

The meeting continued as usual and, I left feeling no better but no worse. I guess that was something.

I was late to my next class. Geography. I rush in and sit down a desk away from Olivia on one side and on my other side Josh gives me a small smile.

Josh was my ex boyfriend. We were dating for a long time until the accident, I pretty much stopped hanging out with everyone then. Including my boyfriend. He always saw this period as just a break, so I had to remind him we were not dating anymore, many times.

Then as the lesson progresses a note is slipped onto my desk. It read: Is it true you saved Topp from killing himself? - Josh x
