A Reluctant Nap

"Come on, little one." Yoongi patted Jin's bed trying to get Jungkook to come over. The boy shyly shook his head. The morning had actually gone relatively well. Jungkook was a shy but sweet boy and listens relatively well. He was obviously still upset but he played along with what Yoongi asked him to do.

Every so often Yoongi would catch him gazing longingly at the door but the caregiver did his best to distract him. But still the baby missed his Appa. He'd ask for the time and get teary eyed when it wasn't five o'clock yet. It broke Yoongi's heart but he knew he had to be strong. Kookie would be more upset if he showed too much negative emotion.

Yoongi had been pleasantly surprised with Jimin too. He didn't see as much bratty behavior as he did the day before. He was starting to realize the little one probably reacted off of who was in the room. He was much brattier when Hoseok was around, most likely knowing he could get away with bad behavior. When he'd been with Jin yesterday there was much less of it.

The boy was still a bit spoiled, expecting to get his way. He'd thrown a bit of a fit when he and Tae were playing with blocks and Taehyung had picked up the purple one he wanted. Little Tae had been surprised and tried to hand it over but Yoongi had stopped him, telling Jimin he needed to share. The boy hadn't been happy but when Yoongi told him he'd have to stop playing with the blocks then, he relented. Yoongi acted like he didn't see Tae give Jimin the purple block the moment he turned his back.

The only one that was really giving him a hard time was Namjoon. The boy hadn't been happy when the tantrum hadn't gotten him what he wanted. He was also upset by Jin disappearance like Jungkook and any time the younger boy started to cry Namjoon would do the same. However, he wouldn't let Yoongi comfort him. He just continuously asked for his Appa.

It was highly frustrating to Yoongi. Namjoon had known Jin for two days and was so attached to him and Yoongi had been trying to take care of the younger man for years. Yet, he was so resistant to him. Wouldn't let him hold him, wouldn't let him change his clothes, wouldn't let him play with him. Nothing. All he did was lament that he wanted his Appa and he wanted Appa to care for him, not Yoongi.

He didn't blame Jin, not at all. The man had been so kind to all of them and had cared for Namjoon when the boy wouldn't let anyone else. He just wished Namjoon would accept him too.

"Come on little one, everyone else is already in bed." Yoongi tried again but Kookie wouldn't budge. He didn't want to sleep with anyone but his Appa. He refused to shut his eyes until he knew his Appa was home with him and safe.

The other three boys had demanded they sleep on Seokjin's bed like Kookie does for naptime. They wanted nothing to do with the two expensive beds in the nursery. Jin had splurged and bought Kookie and Jimin adjustable beds. Ones that could become a crib or toddler bed when necessary and convert into a normal bed when a little was big. He had been hoping that he could get Kookie in it but he had yet to be successful. It was too hard on his heart hearing his baby cry after he tried to put him in his crib. Jin meant well but it wasn't really helping the little's separation anxiety.

"Well how about we just have a little seat then. Come sit with us and read a story."

That caused Jungkook to pause. He liked stories. Only Appa told him stories and he didn't always have time to read as much as Kookie wanted.

Yoongi patted the spot beside Namjoon again and this time Jungkook came. Yoongi smiled and helped the boy onto the bed, letting him cuddle into his friend. The caregiver was making the four lay horizontal on the bed so he could stack pillows on either side of the group. He was scared they'd fall out if they laid down normally in the bed. Jin had already had pillows stacked up on the bed to keep Jungkook on it while he was asleep anyway.

He helped the baby lean back and popped a pacifier in his mouth before he could protest. The baby already had his bunny in his arms. He hadn't let it go since Jin had given it to him when he was leaving that morning. Even when Yoongi had been trying to dress him for the day he'd had to go one arm at a time so the little one could keep ahold of the stuffed animal.

Jimin and Tae were already fast asleep at the far end of the bed and Namjoon was on his way. It had taken a long time for Yoongi to even get Jungkook into the room. He'd tucked the other three into bed with their pacis and plenty of stuffed animals almost half an hour ago while he tried to ease Jungkook into the idea. He knew the baby was scared and that if he pushed too much the boy would run.

Yoongi ran a hand through the boys hair, comforting him without making it too obvious he was trying to soothe him into sleep. He opened the book and started to read. Jin had told him it was Jungkook's favorite. A story about a bunny and a kitten. Yoongi thought it was oddly fitting. As the story went on Jungkook got sleepier and sleepier but Yoongi acted as if he didn't notice. He just kept reading and playing with the baby's hair. Until finally Jungkook's eyes slipped shut and his breathing evened out. He fell into a peaceful sleep without his Appa for the very first time.
