I not only looked like I was going to vomit, but I felt like it times two. Nausea crept in while my mind was running wild- anxiety always getting the best of my brain and body.

I swallowed thickly, my mouth salivating in preparation for The Coming.
But I denied it all hope: trying to pull myself together the best I could before my clock ran out, and I would have to face tens of eyes that would probe into my depths to find out what was wrong with me— Get it together, y/n.

"Spectacular job, everyone! This has been the coolest 4 months of set in a while." Joe starts the speech,
"Before we leave, I want to give a big round of applause for the newbies we've had the pleasure of working with; Tom and y/n!" Anthony finishes it.

Everyone starts clapping, turning to Tom and I who stood further towards the back.
I flushed red, waving everyone off humbly as Tom grinned awkwardly yet appreciatively.

"The pleasure was and is all mine, I'm sure Tom feels the same." I add, and everyone comes in for a goodbye hug: well, a goodbye-for-now hug.

As everyone parted and started chatting before filing out, I drifted off for a moment, pulling my phone from my back pocket.

delivered at 12:45pm

I waited for a minute, chewing my non-existent nails as I watched the screen, patiently waiting for 'delivered' to turn into 'read'.
But as seconds turned to minutes, that never came.
I tapped the call button, putting the phone up to my ear; my foot starting to tap arrhythmically.

"Hello?"
"Hey, it's y/n!"
"Oh, hi y/n."
"Am I calling at a bad time?"
"No, sorry, I was just napping."
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I'll-"
"Did you need to tell me something, y/n?"
"..."
"You still there, l/n?"
"Yeah, yeah, sorry—"
"Stop apologizing."
"Stop interrupting me."

I heard him laugh softly, making my heart swell. It was a sound I hadn't heard in a while.

"What did you need to tell me?"
