Chapter 15

Bucky's POV

       I immediately felt guilty after the look of pain and shock crossed Liv's face. "I lost it when I fell. The damage was irreversible, so they had to cut off what was left. Howard Stark made me a metal prosthetic, but after everything in Siberia, Shuri made me a new one when she made yours."
I explained.

"You always wore a jacket and gloves... I never knew why," She says, barely above a whisper.

"I didn't want to scare you," I shrug. To my surprise, she puts her real hand on my metal one.

"You can never scare me," She says, finally making eye contact with me, which is extremely rare for her. "It's just something we have in common." She smiles weakly. I nod.

"If it makes you feel any better," She continues. She pulls her sleeve up to fully reveal her arm. "We complete each other." She was right. Her metal arm was on the right, mine was on the left.

Liv's POV
Over the next two years, my relationship with Bucky only got stronger. I remembered a lot about our relationship, and my love for him was gradually returning. Rather than acting to make him happy, I was now craving Bucky's presence and he truly made me happy. He made me feel less alone. Maybe it was because we both stood out, who knows.

        Despite the good times, I wasn't quite back to the same Liv. I still had moments where I would shut down, or turn on him unintentionally, but he stayed by my side through each episode. There were nights where I would have nightmares and accidentally hurt him, but each time he held me to tell me it was okay. Everyday I got a little bit better, and all I could do was hope that life stays like this. Simple, safe, and peaceful. That's all I want. But in our life, things can never stay like this for too long.
