The smell of burning meat, wood, and ash fills the air around you. Ivar's plan was truly genius. To trick the Saxons into believing that through their attacks on your hunting parties, the majority of your force had been lost to disease and starvation. You were very proud of him, his mind was indeed a strong and valuable asset to you all here in York. Something you knew, but Ivar found himself constantly having to prove to others around him.

Walking through the smokey streets, you stick closely to Ivar as Hvitserk trails behind you both

"What is it that you do not understand Hvitserk?" Ivar snaps. Annoyed at his brothers constant insolence.

"I don't understand why you pretend to burn the bodies of our dead!" Hvitserk replies honestly

"I don't understand why you pretend to burn the bodies of our dead!" Hvitserk replies honestly.

"It's part of my plan..." Ivar smiles to you taking your hand in his free one.

"Ah...what...plan?" Hvitserk drones.

Ivar, letting you hand go quickly, turns to glare at his brother

Ivar, letting you hand go quickly, turns to glare at his brother.

"Did you really think that I did not have a plan? Of course I have a plan! I'm a cripple...not an idiot!" His voice is coarse, showing his frustration at constantly having to prove himself.

"I've found something out..." he turns away from his brother and begins to walk.

You stand motionless for a second. Unsure as to if he is referring to something to do with the pending attack or what happened in the watch tower. The thudding of your heart, is not aided by Hvitserk, who is also stood rigid in fear.

"W-What..." Hvitserk splutters.

"The Romans were very clever, my plan...is based upon what I have found out" Ivar starts, talking for a while about his methods before turning to look at you both, so far behind him...

"What is it?" he questions. Looking to you both through narrowed eyes.

"Nothing" Hvitserk mutters before pushing past you, then moving past Ivar without another word and back into the city.

"What was that?!" Ivar questions, pointing in the direction of his now distant brother. You approach him with a warm smile. Trying to avoid eye contact. But he pulls your chin up so you meet his blue pools. His eyes pierce into yours like arrows, making you feel uneasy under his heavy gaze, as they dart across your face in anger.

"I said...what was that!" his voice is low. Far lower than you have ever heard it.

"What?!" You smile, innocently up to him. Trying to avoid his questions. Even though you knew you had done nothing wrong. Nothing happened between you and Hvitserk, but you knew that if Ivar was to hear of his brothers attempts. It would end in blood...

You lean up to place a light kiss on his lips to silence his questioning. He does not stop you. But as your lips meet his, he tangles his free hand in your hair and pulls at it. Turning the kiss violent, hungry and territorial?
