POV Ciara- Seize The Day

Jack, Davey, Boots and I return to the square a little while later. Les is sitting with Racetrack and Blink where they are playing cards.

They have quite the audience watching closely. Once we got closer, everyones attention switches to us.

"So where's Spot, huh?" Race asks Jack.

"He was concerned about us bein serious. Can you imagine that?" Jack grumbles.

"Well, you know, Jack, maybe we ought to ease off a little, you know." Race continues sheepishly taking a drag from his cigarette.

This kid was always smoking.

"Without Spot and the others, there's not enough of us, Jack, you know?" Blink adds.

"Maybe we're movin too soon?" Mush tries.

"I think we should forget about it for a while." a boy named Skittery suggests.

Jack seems to be getting frustrated. I don't blame him.

It's too early on in the strike for the boys to already want to back down.

"Oh, do ya?" Jack questions Skittery.

"Yeah. I mean, we're not Brooklyn." Race mutters.

"'Ey, who are we kiddin here? Spot was right. Is it just a game to you guys?" Jack scans the crowd.

"Not a game." Race reassures Jack.

Some of the boys follow Race's lead and reassure Jack they're in. Slowly, the rest of the boys began to pipe up and slowly get back on board. Good.

Davey leaves us to find his brother and begins to sing softly.

Open the gates and seize the day

Don't be afraid and don't delay

Nothing can break us

No one can make us

Give our rights away

Arise and seize the day

Now is the time to seize the day

Send out the call and join the fray

Wrongs will be righted

If we're united

Let us seize the day

Friends of the friendless, seize the day

Raise up the torch and light the way

Proud and defiant

We'll slay the giant

Let us seize the day

Neighbor to neighbor

Father to son

One for all and all for one

Open the gates and seize the day

Don't be afraid and don't delay

Nothing can break us

No one can make us

Give our rights away

Neighbor to neighbor

Father to son

Once for all and all for one

We all smile and look at each other. We are definitely all on the same page now.
