"Mom, khi keeps biting my shirt." Kenzie yelled.
"Mekhi, please stop sweetie." I yelled in frustration. I've been running up & down the steps all morning. First Mckayla lost her headband, mckenzie almost forgot her ballet shoes & I had to change Mekhi's outfit because he spilled Apple juice all over hisself. Let me introduce the new addition to the family, his name is Mekhi Logan Alsina. In loving memory of August's brother Melvin & my grandmother Lucille Aug and I decided to use the first letter of his brother's name for Mekhi's first name and the first letter of my grandmothers for Mekhi's middle name.
The girls have a recital in 30 minutes, August is going to meet us there he's been in the studio a lot working on a new album. Aug is also getting ready to go on another tour, and boy im not ready. Aug just got off tour with Usher and now he's getting ready for another tour with Chris. My man never sleeps and it's a problem.
"Jui, mommy jui!" Khi whined. I sighed as I picked him up and handed him his sippy cup.
"Come on girls are yall ready?" I asked the girls who were practicing their dance routine in the mirror.
McKayla & Mckenzie both nodded their heads as they ran over towards the door. I locked the door behind us.
Once I buckled the kids in, I happened to glance through the rear view mirror and notice McKayla didn't have her jacket on.
"McKayla Milani Alsina!!!!" I yelled.
"Yes mama?" McKayla looked down and began to play with her fingers.
"Where is your coat?" I sighed.
"I forgot mommy."
"McKayla it's winter you know better!" Since I didn't have time to go back in the house I threw one of Aug's sweatshirts for her to put on. I texted Aug to see if he could stop by the house on his way home to get her jacket.
When we pulled up to the school McKayla frowned her face up. "I'm not putting this on, it's to big." Kayla crossed her arms.
"I'm the mother, and you're the child. Therefore you will put this sweatshirt on like I told you to. Do I make myself clear?" I kneeled down to speak with McKayla.
"Yes mom." Kayla rolled her eyes.
"I'm not your father, I won't let you get away with this. Keep rolling your eyes you'll be sitting right next to me watching your sister perform." I pulled the sweatshirt over Kayla's head and she began to pout.
"I miss daddy." Kayla failed to whisper to Kenzie.
I acted like I didn't hear her even though it hurts. I try my best to be the best mother to our three kids. I knew what I was getting myself into when I married August, but I didn't think it would be this hard. August is a wonderful husband and father, the only problem is he's never really around like he used to be because of his career. I promised to hold Aug down, and I will. The only thing I ask for him is to stay faithful to me and continue to be a great father.
"Mrs. Alsina, how are you?" Kayla and Kenzie dance teacher Ms. Rodriguez greeted me.
"Hey Salina, I'm great..thanks." I smiled.
"I thought y'all weren't coming. I started to worry myself." Ms. Rodriguez whispered.
"Oh no, we made it." I chuckled. "Girls behave, Khi and I are going to find a seat. And I wish you both good luck." I kissed them both on the forehead.
"Thank you mommy." Kenzie said.
I adjusted Khi on my hip and he laid his head on my shoulder. "Da-da!" Khi cheered.
