His mother looked at me and then asked the dreaded question that was the start to even more dreaded questions. I knew how some parents felt about their kids and how they became very protective. I watched tv sometimes. I wanted to tell her that Oliver would probably hurt me before I hurt him as he had already done before, but I refused to even think like that. I refused to hold a grudge on Oliver. When she asked the question it was like she wanted me to answer because she knew things about me that I didn't even know about my own self and that did not make me feel good.

"So how long have you both known each other?" Her velvety voice dripped with pleasantry, but I wasn't comfortable. The way she looked at me, it made me feel like she knew every secret and every moment. Every movement I would make. I was crawling in my skin from her eyes.

Oliver answered quicker than I could even think of the number. "Around two months. I still need to figure her out though ma. Not gonna stop trying." He winked at me with that devilishly handsome face and I blushed. While I thought his mom was looking away I flipped him the bird. Damn him. His mom caught the exchange and smiled faintly and I blushed even more. She was going to Greenland would be my fault. I hid my face thinking it would shield me but she only laughed a little more. It gave no hints to whether she actually liked me or not. She probably thought bad of me though.

"Who do you think I am?" She asked me. I looked around and Oliver wasn't handing out clues. Instead he was staring at his mother very seriously. Too seriously for me to know what was going on. It made me all the more curious about who this woman was. I had no idea. Who was she? Should I have known? This made me panic just a bit, but I tried not to pass out.

"I am a-" She didn't get to finish. Oliver rushed a loud sentence about spaghetti and I couldn't read her lips. I had no idea what she said. She laughed louder than before at her son's antics, but hushed him all the same. Like an 'It's okay.' From her to him. I looked at Oliver after his strange outburst trying not to laugh. Of course he saw that and nudged me which caused me to trip and let out the sound of twenty kittens being trampled. The man was heavy and I wasn't. Physics and all that.

His mother looked at me on the floor and gave a hoot of laughter. Just then the door opened and in walked a man and Olivia's twin. It couldn't have been real Olivia because this one was just too cute.

"Hi mom! Daddy and I picked out a couple of treats. He's a terrible shopper," she giggled and so did Oliver's mom. "Next time it's me and you." She declared. Then she wiggled her fingers in greetings to Oliver and I.

"Chia, you're looking dazzling." Said the guy who I assumed was her husband. It didn't seem like they fit. He was shorter than her and more heavy set. And older by some years maybe? She was the Broadway star and he was a yellow journalist. He wasn't clean shaven and he was bald with a lumpy head. All in all, he didn't seem like he deserved her. But maybe he wasn't the scum that he looked like. Maybe.

"And who might this be?" His sweaty hand grabbed mine tightly and he kissed my hand. He actually left behind some sweat or a spit bubble, but it was gross and I wanted him to never ever ever ever touch me again. I smiled shyly since I couldn't speak. Olivia rolled her eyes and shrugged in the most adorable manner.

"I had the same problem daddy. This is Mary Jane! Her and I are going to be best friends as soon as she opens up." Her smile made shame bubble up in me. I could never be so cute and I had pink hair! I was pretty sure they didn't want their boy to be around the weird silent nobody with pink hair. They were all perfect people. (Even Chia's creepy husband since he probably had billions of dollars and that's what society really gave a damn about.) Oliver snatched my hand from the man and held it tight which led to a reddened face.

Oliver looked past him at his mom. He ignored the man completely and the man seemed to not give a single damn. I watched Chia's face turn to disappointment at the sight of Oliver ignoring his step father. "Ma, when are we leaving to Richards?" Who was Richard exactly. Confusion was building up in me the more time I spent here. Why was Chia with him? Who was chia? Who was Richard? What happened to bitch Olivia?
