Casey

"Black beauty!" I yelled grabbing the keys and running over to my favorite of Wyatt's vehicles. I started it and waited by the opened passenger door for Logan, she was giving Kayle a tight hug, then she hopped up. I looked at her and gave her a nod before closing her door and getting back in the driver seat.

The second the garage door opened up I flew out of it and down the yard till I hit the driveway. The front gate opened and out we went.

"Casey, please don't kill me." The panicked look that flashed across her face made my stomach drop for a second.

"Sweetheart, I'm a trained professional, calm down." I smiled over at her. She couldn't smile though I knew she was scared. I slowed down a little and took her hand in mine. I looked behind me seeing that mother fucker's stupid stolen vehicle behind us, then grabbed the walkie attached to the dash letting go of Logan's hand to do so.

"Four here, we have a hook. Copy three?" I spoke into it with Logan's eyes on me.

"Three Copy." Wyatt answered as I smiled back at Logan.

"What in the hell?" She said but I couldn't answer before the radio went off again.

"One here, be safe. Call if you need anything."

"Was that Dane? I'd recognize that accent anywhere. Casey what the fuck is going on?" I gave her a cheeky smile and the radio went off again.

"Two on point, four black Rover, take a left." Listening to Deegan, I quickly took the next left before grabbing the mic.

"Four copy I see him."

"Three, you're clear." Deegan spoke again. I took a few more turns to ensure that I was no longer being followed before heading back to Wyatt's house and parking the Jeep.

"Casey, that was insane."

"I know, my life is kind of insane." I shrugged. "So, this was kind of a laid-back normal day."

"Oh my god."

"Come on, let's get you back home." She nodded quickly and after locking up Wyatt's place she stayed quiet the whole ride back to her apartment. Once we were back, I walked up stairs with her and watched as she let herself in to her place.

"I uhm...thank you." I gave her a small smile with a nod.

"I've got to run back to my house for a little bit. Then I'll be here for the night. If you need anything call me. Please, just in case he decides to try to come back here, don't answer your door. Call me if anyone knocks." She nodded her head. "Lock up soon as this door closes." She bit her lip and nodded again. "I'll let you know when I'm back. Do you work tomorrow?" She nodded. "What time?"

"I have to be there at 7 so I'll be leaving here by 6." I nodded at her, both hands in my pockets.

"I've got to leave here around 5am, but same thing, call me if anything. I don't care if you're just worried. Call me, I don't care what time it is. I will answer your call." She nodded again. "I'll be back." Nodded again and watched me walk away. "Lock the door." I smiled and she shook her head with a small smile and closed the door. I left once I heard it lock.

I got back to my house and instantly wanted to turn around, but my mom came out through the garage as I was putting my truck in reverse. She pointed at me and I put my head down before shutting off the truck and getting out.

"He's been asking for you, and I know what you need to do for Wyatt. I also have a feeling you're doing this for yourself a little bit too, which is fine. Go spend time with your son first though." I nodded and walked past her and into the house. "He needs dinner, why not take him out for a bit. Get out of the house."
