Though only Mike Wheeler had seen the action, and the rest had only seen her body, they had all believed Mike. He loved her and would never do anything to harm her. And Mike was telling the truth, he had seen her killed. He had seen the mind flayer brutally slaughter El, something he could never un-see. He had never been the same after that. He thought about that moment all the time, knowing she was gone. But what he didn't know was that something more was going on.
