"You think you're so good?" The boys that surrounded him questioned as they beat him to the ground. Sunwoo couldn't do much, he had no power. He was helpless; at least in his own mind. He had a crave for happiness, but it never came through. It was normal for him already, getting bullied. Nobody ever helped him. It was depressing.
They finished beating him to the ground and tossed his books and papers everywhere. He didn't know whether he should cry or not. Sunwoo sat there staring and thinking, my life is hopeless. He fixed his broken glasses on his face and looked at the papers scattered everywhere. His head was down in defeat. Until, a hand was in front of his face.
"Let me help you," A girl said reaching her hand out to the boy beaten to the ground. He looked up, it was Choi Yuna, the popular girl. The popular girl that was always humble. She was top student and wasn't open with anybody except those who were hurt and bullied.
He reached out into her hand and he was pulled up. She bent down and picked up the papers. Yuna gave him the papers with a sweet smile. "I'm sorry they're like that," she continued, "is there any way you would like me to help?" Sunwoo shook his head, disagreeing.
She sighed.
Yuna wanted to help him. She always saw him suffer, it was painful to her as well. "I want to help you, the best I can," she said holding his hands. But again, he disagreed.
"Then let's be friends!" suggested Yuna. A beautiful smile grew on her face, it was enough to enchant him. He looked up from the ground into her eyes. Someone wants to be my friend, he thought. He nodded, all he wanted was a friend. That's all he wished for.
Her smile warmed him already. It was like the best gift he could ask for from God. He smiled back, revealing his braces.

The next day he walked into school and was greeted by a group of bullies.
"Wahh Sunwoo, you're hitting on my girlfriend now," one of the bullies said. He looked down. Right, she was dating the school bully. Sunwoo shook his head. "Then stay away from her Kim Sunwoo," he laughed and kicked Sunwoo to the ground.
"Yah!" Everybody turned toward the yelling. It was Yuna. She looked at Sunwoo and back to the bully, Wooseok. Yuna shook her head and helped Sunwoo get up. "Wooseok, we talked about this yesterday," she paused, "we broke up." Sunwoo was uneasy but despite that, he felt a spring of joy.
"I'm sorry," she apologized after handing him juice. He shook his head with a smile, "it's fine, you still came after all." They continued to laugh and chatter. It was a bond that both of them never had. They clicked almost immediately, expressing their love for food, music, dancing, and even jokes.
After the bell rang, they parted ways yet again. It was sad for him, but he was unsure about what she felt. Yuna was a kind person, she didn't talk to a lot of people and always befriended those who were bullied. She may not have thought much of it, he thought. But Sunwoo was wrong, Yuna's heart would beat whenever she would talk with him. The feeling was mutual, but they both were not positive about it.
