015 "you can't do this to me" !

Jules was nervously tapping her foot on the ground waiting for her sister to knock on her appartement door. She was sitting around her small kitchen table, her mind was racing with thoughts and she didn't know how to handle it properly. Was the best way to tell addalyn over text? had she made a mistake?

she had put on her pjs after the chemo and hadn't took them off yet. the hood of her hoodie on her head, covering the pale face she was trying to hide

chemo had took a toll on her. she not only looked bad, but felt horrible. her stomach was weak, she couldn't even walk straight due to her wobbly legs.

even though avani told her to stay strong, jules knew she couldn't continue living like that. she gave chemo a try, and it didn't make the cut for her.

suddenly, the door shook with 2 sharp knocks

"come in" jules yelled in a rushed voice

addalyn made her way to the table and took a seat. both girls made eye contact but stayed silent. Addaly slowly placed her hand on top of Jules' and with her other hand, took off her hood, making the girl flinch.

"you don't look too good jay" addy told the girl in a calm but unsteady voice, like she would break if the noises were any louder.

"don't you think i know that?" jules replied with a small chuckle, trying to lighten up the mood.

"at least you're doing chemo right? you'll get better!"

"addy about that-" the girl got cut off as soon as she started her sentence

"no jules you're continuing chemo, i don't want to hear about it"

"addalyn you cant choose for me"

"no jules i can you don't understa-"

"no addalyn you don't understand!" jules yelled over her sister's word with all the strength she had. "i tried addy i really did, okay? it's worse, worse than i expected. i don't want to die, but i can't live like this. so if i have a year to live, i'll take it."

addalyn slowly raised her sight to jules' level. tears were clouding her eyes and she gonna up with a swift, hugging the smaller girl.

"it's alright addy, i'm here"

"no, you can't leave me, you can't do this to me jules" addalyn cried in her sister's chest.

"one day you'll understand" the younger girl replied, closing her eyes, allowing the tears to flow down freely on her red cheeks.

suddenly, the entry door opened to a happy avani and an even happier anthony, both walking in while sharing a laugh. avani spotted the girls in the kitchen and her mood immediately went down

"hey, what's happening?" she croaked out, worry lacing in her voice as she made her way towards the sisters.

"hey vani, it's alright" Jules answered with a sad smile while addy was still clinging onto her body like she'd lose her if she let go.

"are you sure?" avani wasn't totally convinced by the blonde. anthony gave a sad look towards them but before he could look away, jules caught it.

"are you not curious ant? why aren't you asking?" jules confronted the boy before while holding his stare. she was convinced he knew something. avani couldn't keep her mouth shut with her boyfriend and it showed. she slowly closed her fists in anger.

"do you have something to tell me avani?" the blonde looked at the smaller brunette with an exasperated look.

"jules i'm sorry i didn't mean to, it just slipped-"

"it's okay" her best friend sighed. she did not have the strength to fight with her even if she wanted. what was done was done and she couldn't change any of it. he already knew.

"when do you plan on telling jaden?" anthony asked with a empathetic look.

"i don't plan on telling him for as long as i can" jules replied with a sigh.

"you can't do that jay, he's already worried as hell, you have barely spoke to him these last few weeks, he thinks you're cheating" anthony was mad, he cared about jaden too much for him to keep hurting.

But for jules, this was perfect. the perfect scenario she didn't know she needed. a plan was developing quickly in her head.

"jules tell me you're not planing on doing what i think you'll do" addalyn spoke hurriedly to her sister. she knew her too well for that.

"listen up, what if it's my way out, he wouldn't care anymore, so i won't hurt him, and i won't hurt myself thinking i'll hurt him" jules let out quickly explaining the twisted reasoning behind her plan.

her three friends made disappointed faces at her but she didn't care. this was her was out and she was gonna take it.

"did you tell avani about your decision" addalyn asked her sister with despair as she had hope the small girl could convince her otherwise.

"what do you need to tell me?" avani asked with worry in her words

"i'm not doing chemo anymore" the girl went straight to the point as she was scared of her friend's reaction.

avani's mouth hung open. words could not describe how horrible jules felt in this moment. how desperate avani was. but avani didn't say anything. she only wrapped her arms around her tall friend. they didn't speak nor did they cry. they just stayed in each other's presence, enjoying life while they were still alive. and soon, they felt two pair of arms join them in a group hug

because jules determined to make the best of the time she had left
