Chapter 2

When he walked back in and sat at his desk, Fray stood and walked over with a DVD. She handed it to him and returned to her seat. Matt put it in has computer and waited for it to load. While he waited his mind ran over the conversation he just had. When his computer beeped he opened the window and watched the footage. He watched a black clad figure enter Ava's warehouse. After ten minutes the same figure came back out and let the car she drove roll into the water. Then she went back into the warehouse. Within the next fifteen minutes he saw the cop cars pull up and himself walk into the warehouse. She still hadn't left. He flicked to the camera outside Elizabeth's warehouse. And just like he thought the Black clad figure came out on a black motor bike ten minutes before he entered the other side. He looked up to see Fray and GP watching him from behind Fray's desk. "Find Ava." He said. When they didn't move he nearly shouted "NOW!" GP scurried off to his desk and Fray got back to typing away at her computer. Matt let his head fall into his hands and almost immediately felt Fray's gaze burning holes into the top of his head.

Ten minutes later the last edition to Matt's team walked up and stood in front of Matt's desk. When the shadow crossed him Matt raised his head and saw Agent Arthur Douglas standing there looking slightly puzzled. "You got something?" Matt asked as he straightened up. He saw agent Douglas, aka Dougie, swallow before he said "we found something strange." Matt raised his eye brows waiting for Dougie to continue.

When he didn't Matt said "and that is?" Dougie suddenly remembered the manila folder he was carrying and said "oh, yeah, right." He opened the folder before saying "um... well we found a couple motels where a Miss Elizabeth Taylor rented a room to when we went through her financials." "Yeah. So?" Matt cut in.

"Well," Dougie continued "these rooms were booked at least five hours after Elizabeth died. Tonight." Matt stood at the information. "It's gotta be her." He said out loud. "Who?" asked Fray "It can't be Elizabeth, she's down stairs in the morgue." Matt shook his head "no, not her, her sister Ava." The look of puzzlement stayed glued to Fray's face. "Where are the motels?" he asked Dougie.

Dougie quickly consulted the folder and said "out skirts of West Virgina." "Alright." Matt said as GP came to stand with them "wheels up in half an hour." The team split up to do various things. Matt reached under his desk and pulled out his overused overnight bag. Then he went to get the jet ready.

She sunk into the soft king size bed in her tiny motel room. She felt herself on the verge of sleep when she remembered the door was wide open and the light was on. Groaning she got up and moved over to close the door. Then after turning on the bedside light she turned off the overhead light. After removing her pants and shirt she slipped under the covers wearing nothing but her underwear and a black singlet. When she was, once again, on the verge of a deep deserving sleep a shiver ran the length of her spine before running back up. Her eyes instantly sprang open; she sat up straight and reached over to turn on the lamp. Light flooded the empty room. Breathing heavily she lay back down, dimmed the light and rolled over. She heard footsteps coming down the hall. Her breathing instantly quickened and she made sure her gun was in her hand under the pillow. She heard the footsteps stop outside her door, and the heavy breaths that were attached to the feet. Then she heard a sound she didn't expect. Someone knocked on the door. She squeezed her eyes shut pretending to be asleep. There was another knock and when she didn't answer she hoped they would leave. Only she heard the sound of her lock being picked. She swallowed and squeezed her eyes shut even harder. When the door opened she heard it squeak. She heard the footsteps make their way into the room. After they took four steps she sat up turned around and pointed the gun at their heart with in the space of a second. She was about to fire when she saw their face. She gasped and rolled over the side of the bed. She backed up to get as far away from him as she could. She hit the wall before she lowered the gun.
