Chapter 8

Axum is Beautiful. I felt like I was in ancient Ethiopia. Everything felt different from the capital I loved it.

The weather was hotter compared to the capital not too hot like summer the in Korea, but hotter than the capital.

The language spoken here was different even Rodas had hard time comprehending, but thank God most people here spoke Amharic.

The people felt ancient. They had their traditional clothes and styled their hair in the traditional braid.

The churches were magnificent. Big and elegant. The monuments tells the history of the city. How big of a city it was during its time.

The buildings aligned on the main roads are mainly Hotels, shopping centres, Bars and restaurants.

Other than that it was ancient. You could see people riding on horses and camels too.

I was excited, very excited.

" Can we ride the horses? Or camels? ... Never mind I wanna go swimming on in the lake with the other people" I was high with excitement.

We had gotten to our hotel room and the lake was visible from our window. The lake was red, yep red, but it was swarmed with people tossing themselves in for a swim.

"Why is the lake red?"

"Because of the land. The land beneath it is fertile. It's red soil. I think that's why it's red. Not sure tho..."

We had come to Axum on a tour. We had planned to at least visit one historical site before going back home. We also wanted an alone time for ourselves with out the family and wedding stress.

You could say it's Rodas idea to run away from her sister and friends.

But her sister was relentless. She had assigned Roads to look for traditional dresses in Axum and to report back to her when she does.

We are planning to have a small traditional wedding in Ethiopia and Axum is the place where most of the best traditional clothing was made.

We stayed in the hotel cuddled up for few minutes before we started our journey.

We started our journey by going to the famous church where the Ark of Covenant is believed to be at. It was right in front of our hotel a few minutes walk. Actually most of the historical places was a few minutes away from our hotel.

After visiting the city a little more we were both dying of exhaustion and heat. We had arrived early morning around 8:30 had a simple break fast by this time we were both starved and in need of a cold shower.

I jumped into the shower as soon as we got to the hotel and by the time I was out I saw Ezara in our room looking as if he had seen a ghost.

"Ezra, what are you doing here?" I asked as I was coming out of the washroom. The atmosphere in the room was stuffy.

"Are you alright?" I asked again and took a seat on the bed next to Rodas. Ezra was sitted in a chair in front.

when he didn't respond. I looked over to Rodas with questioning eyes and she looked to have tears in her eyes and just looked away.

It was silent for few seconds before Ezra suddenly upped and left.

"What is going on?" I turned my questioning gaze to Rodas.

"What is he doing here?" I continued.

I was not feeling good. I didn't like the vines she was giving me. She tried to shrug me off and stood up when I turned her and asked once again.

"What happened?" I fixed my gaze on her so she wouldn't try to run.

"We have to talk." she said with a firm tone after a few seconds of delibrations.

My heart dropped at those words. I knew it was not something good.
