In Smurfette's house, the group of Hefty, Smurfstorm, Smurflily, and Clumsy all were wondering about what Smurfette was saying. Could it all be true? Was the legend real?
Hefty said to Smurfette, "Hey, look Smurfette, I'm sure this means a lot to you, I know. But don't you think you should take a break and try to get some fresh air?"
"When I'm this close!?" Smurfette quickly retarded.
"Look we get it, this is your biggest work yet, but it's been three weeks and you've been in here working and being busy," Stormy said, "Shouldn't you at least try to have some fun?"
"Guys, come on," Smurfette pleaded, "I've come closer than ever before, and I think this is something that could change everything."
"We get it," Lily chimed in, "after Smurfy Grove, you're probably wondering what else is out there. But look at it this way: if you are this close, if you go out and get some air for a bit, then you can come back and get back to it more focused."
Smurfette leaned over the table, thinking it over. After a moment of silence, she finally caved.
"Alright, fine," she said reluctantly, "What do you guys got in mind?"
Lily chimed in, "Well, we've heard about a new thing called glowbunny racing, and we thought that you and Bucky might be interested in giving it a go."
Smurfette smiles. "Alright, let's smurf to it."
Two hours later, the group got their glowbunnies all set and saddled at the start. Smurfette was on top of Bucky, with his excited expression and ecstatic stance showing he was ready to ride.
Hefty and the others were on her right, and their bunnies were all ready for racing, too.
"Alright," Stormy said to everyone, "The course is to the olde dead tree, under its hollow root, then over the ravine, then through the rabbit tunnels, and then to the wall and back. Got it?"
"Yep!" Everyone else replied.
"Alright," she said, readying herself, "on your mark, get set, go!!"
The five glowbunnies were off like rockets, their feet moving as fast as machines. They headed towards the dead old tree. As soon as they got there, they made a sharp turn through the underpass as they headed towards their next spot.
"I feel dizzy!" Clumsy yelled, still rocked by that last turn.
"Don't worry, buddy!" Hefty said, galloping forward, "You haven't smurfed nothing yet!"
The ravine was fairly small, so it required little effort. All the glowbunnies leaped over it like a pack of eagles, except Lily's who got scared of the water and ran away.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine!" Lily yelled, "See you back at the village!"
The other Smurfs barely heard her as they had approached the glowbunny tunnels. Smurfette and Bucky leaped ahead, passing both Hefty and Stormy.
"Keep up slowpokes!" Smurfette yelled trotting forward. Just when it seemed to be going well for her, Bucky suddenly jerked and headed the other way, away from the rest of the group.
Hefty, Stormy and Clumsy all stopped and saw where Smurfette was headed, thinking that something was wrong.
Where is she going? They all wondered.
Smurfette was wondering the same thing. She was trying to get control of Bucky, but he wasn't responding. He ran through the old tunnels, following the scent of something nearby, something strange.
"Bucky, stop! Turn around! Go back!" She yelled, but to no avail. Bucky was dead set on where he was going, almost laser focused.
He continued on his sprint, getting closer and closer, until finally she yelled, "BUCKY! STOP! NOW!"
When he did, the force of his stop sent Smurfette flying through the tunnel hole and right into the air.
Smurfette opened her eyes, only to see she was in midair and was plummeting back down to the ground.
"Oh, no!" She said, panicked.
