Ignotus knocked Nick back into the rubble, sending him flying through busted houses. Ignotus floated over, his presence feeling like a specter of death.
Smurfette, Hefty, Clumsy, Stormy, and Lily all charged at him, ready to fight, only for him to push them back with the force of his magic. He knocked them back into the ruins, knocking them out.
Nick got up, seeing his friends in trouble, decided to put his new skills to use. He retracted the sword into its holster, and stood there, ready to fight.
Nick threw a few attack spells on Ignotus, pushing him back a few steps, then he used an elementalkineseis charm to try and fight him with the Earth itself. It blinded him and kept him in one spot for a moment, which Nick used to grab him and take him to the sky, before throwing him back down and hitting him with a massive attack spell.
Nick looked down, hoping he stopped him, only for it to turn to fear when he saw Ignotus get back up without a scratch. He was only playing with him then, now the gloves were off.
"My turn!" Ignotus said coldly and softly.
He launched himself at Nick with the force of a bullet-train, pummeling him repeatedly in the face, before throwing him off. Nick tried to retaliate, fighting back with his own magic, but Ignotus's attacks were swift, precise.
"Alright," Nick said, drawing his hilt once again, "onto Plan B."
As soon as Nick drew out his blade, Ignotus pulled out his own weapon, morphing it into a double sided blade. The two champions dueled it out, with swords clashing, sparks flying, until their blades were locked.
Nick stared Ignotus in the eye, his dark reflection staring back at him.
"What made you do this?" Nick asked feebly.
Ignotus knocked him back, slashing him across the arm. Nick winced in pain, but he kept at it, blasting Ignotus, pushing him away from his friends.
"You certainly don't give up do you?" Ignotus asked, not even the slightest bit tired.
"I'm not the one who gave up here," Nick said, determination in his eyes.
The two warriors began clashing once again, trading blow upon blow, spell upon spell, until Nick got a good slash across Ignotus's face.
The dark Sorcerer Smurf felt his wounds, shrugging it off.
"All that for a scratch?" He asked, sarcastically.
"Better than nothing!" Nick said as he blasted Ignotus with another attack spell, sending him back a few feet.
Even as the two warriors fought, Ignotus still had the upper hand, pummeling Nick with twice the force he had.
Feebly, Nick tried to fight back against him, but Ignotus was far too strong for him at this state. He still continued to fight on, relentless.
"Huh," he said after the last punch, "you are indeed persistent, much like your mother."
Nick stalled at that last part, confused.
"What are you talking about?" Nick asked, floating in front of him, prepared to strike back.
"When I escaped this realm," Ignotus explained, "I received a vision, of a contender who would take my power. Knowing I had to draw you out, I tracked down the one person you were closest to, and used a killing curse on her, stopping her heart."
Nick looked on shocked, realizing what he meant.
"You...you killed her," Nick said, anger growing in his voice.
"Yes," Ignotus replied, "and all to drag you out and end you. I am the true champion, and I will not be replaced by any feeble human contender like you!"
With that last yell, he blasted Nick back to the village with a beam of magic from his medallion. As soon as he crashed into the ground, Smurfette and her friends, having recovered, tried to protect him, only to be pushed away once again.
Ignotus floated down, having won this battle, and grabbed who he could find: Clumsy, Stormy, then Hefty, and finally Lily. Nick looked up, seeing his friends in danger. He tried to stop him, only to be knocked down once again.
"If you wish to save your friends," Ignotus told him, "you will meet me at Mallorca's temple by midnight, and surrender your power."
Nick tried to speak, "No..."
"Refuse, and your new family, dies," Ignotus finishes as he took the other Smurfs and flew off to the mountain, to Mallorca's temple.
Nick laid their unconscious, beaten and bruised, thinking to himself only one thing: What have I done?
