Chapter 34

Kelly's POV

I let Stella sleep in this morning and dropped Harlow off at school myself. Matt and Gabby were there and asked me if we would pick up the twins as well because they had to get Louie. I said yes and they told me that they would probably be back before five. I told them it was fine and grabbed some food before going home. Stella was still asleep and I didn't blame her we had a pretty late night last night. I let her sleep in till about 10:00 a.m. and then woke her up. We ate breakfast and I told her that we had the twins till about five. She was fine with that and we had the whole afternoon to ourselves till we had to pick the girls up from school.

Kelly: Stella we have to leave now or we are going to be late!

Stella: I am coming.

We drove to the school and got all three girls. Then we went back to the house the girls played in the backyard and then watched a movie. It was 4:45 when a there was a knock on the door. I opened it and Gabby, Matt and Louie stood before me.

Stella: Hey, Kelly is grabbing the girls.

Gabby: Louie do you remember Aunt Stella?

Louie: Yeah.

Kelly: Hey.

Addy and Ally: Mommy, Daddy!

Gabby: Hey girls. Thanks for watching them.

Kelly: No problem.

Stella: Have fun.

We ate dinner and did our normal night routine. We got Harlow ready the next morning and dropped her off at school before arriving at the house. I had some paperwork to catch up on and the day was pretty light until about 9:00 p.m.

Stella's POV

ALL UNITS HOTEL FIRE 4TH AND CHERRY.

We all ran to the units and the fire was blazing. The hotel was fully booked and the fire was jumping floors and fast.

Kelly: Hermann get those hoses up and running, follow 81 and squad.

Each team went to a separate floor and started evacuating people. We had cleared about twenty floors and still had five more. We were working through out the night and most part of the day. It was around noon and Kelly and I were putting more vents in the roof.

Kelly: How are you feeling?

Stella: Hungry, but fine.

Kelly: You sure?

Stella: I'm fine, Stop worrying. Help me get these vents open.

Cruz: Captain, lieutenant I am moving the ladder you will have to self rescue.

Kelly: Got it Cruz.

Stella: Can you see anything we can anchor off of?

Kelly: Yeah the poles over there.

Stella: Okay let's go.

We wrapped the ropes around the poles and fastened them. We started climbing down the building and reached the bottom shortly. We unfastened the ropes and had the fire out just in time to get the babes from school.

Kelly: We have to get the kids from school in ten minutes.

Matt: Load up 51.

Stella: Destination sir?

Matt: To pick up the kids.

Kelly threw me a water bottle and then we loaded up and drove twenty minutes to the kids school. When we got there we attracted a lot of attention because we pulled up with the rigs. We hopped out and we were still getting a lot of stares. The kids were set lose in five minutes so I took that time to take a rest and drink some water.

Kelly: Hey you are looking pale.

Stella: Fine, just didn't get a lot of sleep last night.

Kelly: You look like you are going to pass out.

Stella: I will be fine just need to get some rest after this.

We saw some of the parents walk over to us they looked like they were going to ask us questions.

Mike: Are you the lieutenant?

Stella: Lieutenant Kidd.

Mike: Um do you know who is in charge here.

Stella: Do you have a question sir?

Mike: I'm sure you don't know the answer.

Stella: If you tell me the question I can point you to the right person.

Mike: It's fine I will just find another person. Is there another lieutenant here.

Stella: Sir if you have a question you can ask me if not then I have to go.

I walked away and went to Kelly and Harlow when a car ran another car off the bridge near the school into the water.

Stella: 81 to main we are taking the call at the Middlebrooke Elementary School.

Main: Go ahead 81.

Matt: Lieutenant Kidd this is your scene.

Stella: Got it Chief. Squad get your gear on, 81 create a way to get squad down in that water and fast. 51 check the other car and get everyone out of there. Guys I am going to need everyone to back up and please keep the children away from the scene.

Kelly: Stella I am bring a guy up, he is not breathing get ready to revive him.

Stella: Gabby, Brett be ready.

Cruz: Lieutenant Kidd we need help.

Stella: Cruz what is up?

Cruz: We got a kid, leg is trapped.

Stella: How does it look?

Kelly: The only way we save this kid is if we cut off the leg.

Stella: Gabby you were in medical school right.

Gabby: I can't do that procedure in water. They have to pull the vehicle out and hopefully we can get a surgeon here in that time.

Stella: Call it in.

Hermann: Someone get a hand-cuff knot on him and sit his ass down. Kidd driver of the other car is drunk.

Stella: Call it in. Gallo send the chains down and then pull the vehicle up. Squad we are sending chains down to you I don't want you in the water when they pull the car up.

Squad was pulled out of the water and changed out of the wet suits. Natalie got there just as we were pulling the car out of the water.

Natalie: Stella what is going on?

Stella: Kid is in the car her leg is pinned. We can't get her out unless the leg is no longer a factor. We got her breathing, but she is still unconscious

Natalie: You should sit down Stella you don't look great.

Stella: I'm fine. Hermann did you call the cops?

Hermann: Yeah Upton and Halstead are 5 minutes out.

Stella: Okay.

Kelly: Lieutenant you need to sit down I've got the scene from here.

Stella: Kelly I am fine.

Kelly: Lieutenant that is an order.

I was pissed at him right now so I just started taking orders from the captain. When we finished cleaning up the scene I went to grab Harlow from Matt's car.
