The doctors are saying she'll probably never wake up. They found some leftovers of the neurotoxin she'd ingested in her pockets. From the looks of things she took them of her own volition. I can't blame her for doing what she did. Binding herself further to me us probably a fate worse than death. I can't imagine how disgusted she felt having to play pretend in the days prior to her attempt.
I rub my thumb over her cheek. She is still the most beautiful person I've ever met even in her death-like sleep. I managed to get into contact with her sister to tell her family what had happened. She was the only one that came to see her. The rest of her family told me they were glad she was finally gone. When she got here though, she reminded me so much of Diana that I had to send her away. I arranged for her to stay in a nearby pack that I'd allied with for the time being.
For now, I've just been sitting in her room waiting for her. I know she'll wake up one day, and hopefully, she won't be too cross that I harassed every florist in town until they agreed to ship every lilac they get straight to her room.
Sometimes an end is only a beginning.
