It is time for war

When I received Christ as Lord and personal savior, I had a friend that loved praying. He led me to pray, especially when I never wanted to. It felt too tedious an activity to participate in. I'd watch how he'd awake before everyone else to pray to God. He prayed out loud and you would think it was destructive, but people slept ever so peacefully. No student filed a complaint against my friend. About 40 students shared a huge dorm room with little walls that divided us into cubicles where at least four people lived.

This friend of mine has been so good to me, he has become part of my family. He led me to Christ and taught me the word of God. He never explained much on the necessity of prayer. Since I shared a cubicle with him, his life affected mine in almost every aspect. He went on and on about how Satan was man's commonest enemy, and yet, I had little understanding.

I know most of us feel a little uncomfortable when such a subject is shared. It's true. It is uncomfortable. However, it does not reduce the devil's existence. Sometimes people want to experience certain things before they believe in its existence.

 Proclaim this among the nations:

"Prepare for war!
Wake up the mighty men,
Let all the men of war draw near,
Let them come up.
10 Beat your plowshares into swords
And your []pruning hooks into spears;
Let the weak say, 'I am strong.' "
11 Assemble and come, all you nations,
And gather together all around.
Cause Your mighty ones to go down there, O Lord. - Joel 3:9-11 (NKJV)

You might have taken a neutral position in this fight. Maybe you are a very peaceful person. I find Jesus so amazing. He is described as both the Lamb of God and the lion of Judah. There seems to be a little contradiction in the character of Jesus. How could a harmless lamb be known to be a fierce lion of Judah? Ever thought of that? Jesus is peaceful. No doubt. In spite of His being peaceful, when He dealt with demons and all kinds of satanic affiliations, He did not seem as peaceful.

Every phase of your christian life is a battle that needs to be won. While God has beautiful plans for you, the devil has plans to destroy you. There is nothing good about the enemy. He uses the same skills of deception that worked on the first ever created being.

If the enemy was able to convince Adam and Eve to walk away from the the presence of God to  trade it for some forbidden fruit. What could possibly make us feel stronger or better perhaps?

I know what you are thinking? What about the New Testament covenant? Are we not heirs of Christ?  Yes we are! Again, you cannot agree on one part of the bible and leave out an entire testament of books, which are still part of the Bible.

The bible says, let the weak say, I am strong.  God wants people that are ready to take on life's biggest challenges. People who are willing to pray their way through victory. Perhaps we might have come from a family line that succumbs to a certain stronghold or some attack. And hey, if daddy succumbed to it, who are we to resist? I have good news for every believer and every person that wants victory.

The Lord will roar like a lion from Jerusalem; his loud voice will thunder from that city, and the sky and the earth will shake. But the Lord will be a safe place for his people, a strong place of safety for the people of Israel. - Joel 3:16 (NCV)

The Lord will roar and scare off our enemies. Did you know that lions are not as good hunters as the lionesses? Lions intimidate and one of the ways that they do it is through their mighty roar! When you hear that thunderous roar, boy, you would be scared.

God says, He will roar like a lion. His loud voice will pave a way for the believer that holds on to Him. He says, He will be a safe place for his people. If we are God's people, no problem. We are sorted out. He will be a strong place. Not just some place, but a strong place of safety for the people of Israel.

That ought to make us confident. God is on our side. We are not fighting alone. All we have to do is call on Him. Call on God today and He will answer and lead you to a place of safety. In God lies all the safety we need. God is our refuge. God is our secret place as we wage war on whatever makes us vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy. We have confidence, not in ourselves, but in a God that roars like a lion!

Father, thank you for victory! Victory belongs to you. We ask that you roar like a mighty lion as we seek you in prayer. Thanks a million for answered prayers. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
