The greatest gift of all

For the Son of Man[] came to seek and save those who are lost." - Luke 19:10 (NLT)

One of the best words I have ever read are found in this very scripture. The bible tells us that Jesus saves. There is none that is righteous, the only righteous one is Jesus Christ. He had to die for us to be reconciled to God.

Jesus is my hero. When you think about all heroes, they usually have one thing in common. They have a power that ordinary men don't posses. Common in all heroes is their willingness to live for other people.

One of the greatest miracles that this world has ever had is receiving God  in a form of man. It's crazy to think about. Why would God become a man? Jesus is the only one that can connect us to the Father. Being the son of God, He can introduce us to God. Being God in man, He can introduce God to man. Let's see what the bible says.

This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. - Hebrews 4:15 (NLT)

Why do you think Jesus Jesus qualifies as high priest? Jesus is the only one that has been able to live as a man and not compromise His being God. You might ask: how could Jesus have sinned, wasn't He God? Let's search the scriptures.

In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God,
and the Word was God. - John 1:1 (NLT)

The Bible says, in the beginning was the word of God. It's amazing. John describes the beginning a little differently from what we see in Genesis. The revelation we have here is that the word of God already existed. Okay. What happened to the word?

So the Word became human[] and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.[] And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father's one and only Son. - John 1:14 (NLT)

There's something we see here. The word became human. I was just trying to show us that Jesus was a man as though He were not God. Why is it important to see Jesus as a man? When we see Jesus as a man, we can now start to see why He sympathizes with us. Jesus understands our weaknesses. Here's a little more about what Jesus wants to do with those weaknesses.

Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. - Mathew 11:28 (NLT)

Sin is a burden. But Jesus is willing. Jesus is a hero. Why? Because of His willingness to want to take all our sins. Jesus doesn't want to take some and leave us with those that might seem manageable. He wants all of them. What should we do with sin? What was God's method of saving the sinner? He gave us Jesus. God's wisdom in saving us began with a story of a boy born in Bethlehem.

but early the next morning he was back again at the Temple. A crowd soon gathered, and he sat down and taught them. - John 8:2 (NLT)

Jesus is teaching. He was doing what He normally did, teaching. A strange thing happened in this passage of scripture. He's teaching alright, but something is about to happen. As He taught, something went down somewhere. People were getting busy. While being busy, they were caught. well,  at least one person was caught. Let's read.

As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd. - John 8:3 (NLT)

This is weird. Jesus is teaching. Obviously teaching the word of God. But the Pharisees had no boundaries. This could have waited. I am not sure Jesus even had a chance to finish teaching. He was interrupted. A woman had been caught in adultery. It's quite interesting because in those times, people were stoned to death if caught in such acts. Let's see what Jesus did.

The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?" - John 8:5 (NLT)

This was a big moment. Jesus called Himself the son of God. It bothered the Pharisees that Jesus would call Himself the son of God. If you must know, these were the people that always wanted to trap Jesus. Jesus is wise and awesome. Lets see what happens next.

They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, "All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!"- John 8:7 (NLT)

Jesus was pestered. But His responses challenged their brilliance. In this story, there is only one person that was without sin, Jesus. Let's see one more scripture. You will love it.

Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, "Where are your accusers? Didn't even one of them condemn you?"

11 "No, Lord," she said.

And Jesus said, "Neither do I. Go and sin no more." - John 8:10-11 (NLT)

Jesus is the only person that could have condemned this woman. She was guilty. We are all guilty. But Jesus. He did something about this woman's situation. He literally saved her. She could have died. Here's one thing we should see. I pray we see this with our eyes of the spirit. Sin can lead to eternal death. Only Jesus can save us. The woman could have died a physical death, but when we live in sin, we choose to die spiritually and to live in isolation from God. Jesus is willing to save the penitent sinner.

Where is another God like you,
who pardons the guilt of the remnant,
overlooking the sins of his special people?
You will not stay angry with your people forever,
because you delight in showing unfailing love.
19 Once again you will have compassion on us.
You will trample our sins under your feet
and throw them into the depths of the ocean!
20 You will show us your faithfulness and unfailing love
as you promised to our ancestors Abraham and Jacob long ago. - Micah 7:18-20 (NLT)

There's a place of quiet rest in God. Sin will always keep us restless. Cain became a vagabond and all his life, he just lived it in fear of the unknown. God can restore us. Come to God today, He'll make your life amazing.

Note:  This chapter is a little longer than most, but bear with me. I know what it is to live in sin and to live in shame. I have lived in filth before. Talking about Jesus makes me so excited. He can help you, if only you accept Him. Thank you for reading this entire chapter I hope you have been blessed.

PS: I write about the goodness of God in the next chapter. Stay tuned.

Father. Receive me as your child as I leave behind my sins. You promise to throw my sins in the depths of the ocean. May you forgive me as you accept me in the family of Heaven. Thank you for making me born again. I choose to live for you from now on in. Thank you Jesus! Thank you for saving me. Amen.

You are now born again! The next thing to do is to know Jesus more. Feel free to tell me about your experience about Jesus.
