There was the sound of water dripping. It was kind of cold, but all he could feel were blankets around him. Tobi opened his eyes to see he was back in the guest room, covered in blankets. It was dark, and it was raining outside. He looked at his wall clock, 8:35 PM. Tobi got up from his bed, he was still dressed in the T-shirt and jeans he had put on before he collapsed. That's right, the vision! He had to tell someone about it. He headed out of the room to find John.
Tobi was just climbing down the main stairs that led to the main hall, when he saw Dara and the girl with the dark countenance, accompanied by her 'dolf', carrying something that looked like a sack of animal feed from the entrance, up the stairs. Seemed like these two had learned to get along, he thought.
"Tobi! You're finally awake!" Dara said looking over dark girl's shoulders. She dropped the sack, and climbed up the rest of the stairs, towards Tobi.
"How was your beauty rest, sleeping beauty." said the dark girl."This is Zola. I know you've not been properly introduced. She may seem a bit temperamental, but over the past few days I really..." Dara was saying, but was suddenly cut off.
"Wait! over the past few days? What day is it today?" Tobi asked incredulously.
"Today's Friday. You've been out for three days." Dara answered. Tobi's eyes were as wide as saucers.
"Wow! I've got to see John right now. He needs to know what I saw. Where is he?" Tobi asked hurriedly.
"He said he'd be in the professor's office if we needed him, but..." Dara was saying, but Tobi dashed up the stairs before she could complete her sentence, then suddenly, he stopped in his tracks. "Wait, where's his office again?"
Zola sighed irritably, "Follow me, I'll take you there" she offered grudgingly then bounded up the stairs past Dara and Tobi.
Tobi followed Zola up the palace, through some corridors and passages until they reached a corridor, the floor lined with red carpet. They walked down the hall till they reached a large double door at the end of the corridor.
Zola pushed the door open, her dog bounding by her feet, and Tobi followed her in with Dara coming behind.
Tobi emerged into a room he could only describe as a mini library. There were book shelves all over the place, arranged in aisles in what looked to him as a maze. At the center was an open ground that lead down to a large desk at the other end of the room. There was a large chair behind the desk, and two smaller ones in front. An arched window lay behind the large chair, overlooking the courtyard below. A man sat down on the large chair, it was professor Kwame. His brother, John, sat on one of the smaller chairs opposite him, next to a beautiful looking woman with long wavy hair. Atop the desk lay the cat the professor had called Arowan, and next to him, a large book was opened.
They didn't seem to notice anyone had entered, and were deep in a discussion that sounded more like an argument.
"...because Tobi isn't cut out for it. That's not why I brought him here." John seemed to be saying."What's not why you brought me here?" Tobi asked as he approached the desk.
They all turned to look at him. John instantly stood to his feet.
"Tobi!" he said, a little surprised. "You're up. How are you feeling? Are you feeling any pain?""I'm very fine thank you." said Tobi. "Back to the discussion, what am I not cut out for?" asked Tobi.
John looked to the professor who looked back, a questioning look in his eyes, and John nodded slowly.
"Tobi..." The professor started "That mark on your hand was passed down to you from a lady called Abena. She was a close friend of mine.
"Arowan here tells me that she was killed by a key hunter, on her way to the castle of Isabis, through the forest of Gevaar, and that hunter may be after you as well. Abena was a very powerful gifted who possessed two keys and had earned the power of one. Anyone who could have taken her down must have been very powerful indeed."
