Dara paced around in her room waiting for Arowan to show up again. She was going to escape tonight. She looked at her wall clock that seemed to be forever on 11:30 PM. The wait was nerve-racking. Dara knew she was to escape that night, but she still had to find Zola. She wasn't so sure she could do it on her own.
Maybe she could beat the information out of a guard, but she wasn't so confident in her skill yet. She had mastered the wind element, but she was still having issues with water.
She was able to manipulate water already, but every time she used it for long, she nearly passed out. One time, she tried to manipulate lightening, and she fainted. The same thing might happen if she challenged a guard. She'd have to search for Zola by herself, in stealth mode.
Dara moved into the living room. She decided that if she was to wait, it would be best to kill the time with some TV. She settled on a bean bag and grabbed the remote. She was about to press the 'on' button, but she paused. Footsteps were approaching her door. One thing she had realized since she awoke the Kuugoira was that hear senses were heightened. Her hearing was sharper, her vision clearer and she could sense a presence. She supposed the Kuugoira had always been subtly active in her but had become even more active since it awoke.
The footsteps were almost to her door now.She knew what to do.
If a guard was coming to check up on her, it means that the barrier was down. She would knock out the guard once he opens the door, before he even had time to react, and then exit the building through the roof.
Yes, that was a good plan.
Dara dropped the remote and positioned herself in front of the door, poised at the ready to blast the guard with all the wind she could muster, as wind gathered around her making her hair billow.***
Tobi made his way towards the building with his hood over his head. He was invisible, but His footsteps could still be heard. He had reached the entrance of the guest house, but its gate was locked. Lucky for him, the gate had bars that he could climb. He called to agility and might, and then acrobatically vaulted the gate with an excellent landing on the other side facing the gate. Lucky for him, he hadn't spotted any guards so far.
He turned around to face the grand building and nearly jumped out of his skin when a huge man in red jacket loomed before him. Tobi took a quick inventory of himself and noted that his hood was still on, so the man couldn't see him. But he looked suspicious, he must have heard the racket caused by the gate as he climbed, and also the noise caused by his feet as he landed.Tobi hoped he was a sensory type, as they would always be too confident in their own abilities, and when they don't sense him, they would let down their guard.
The bulky man visibly relax, apparently, he didn't sense anything. He moved forward and Tobi carefully stepped out of the way as silently as he could and headed straight for the entrance of the building. Tobi paused and looked up. It was a five story building, and the lights were turned on, on all the floors except the last floor.
Tobi heard a soft mew and then looked to the source on the ground. It was Arowan.
Tobi wondered how he always seemed to appear out of nowhere. The mysterious cat suddenly ran into the building, passing through the door.
Wow! That's new, thought Tobi as he ran after the cat.
He tried the door, and surprisingly, it wasn't locked. Tobi opened it with just enough space to let him in. He stepped inside into some kind of lobby.
The floor was carpeted, and there were cozy chairs resting on the walls.
Up ahead was a grand stair that branched off in two directions from the first landing. Arowan was waiting for him on the landing, and then abruptly dashed off towards the right. Tobi ran after him, cursing under his breath. It seemed like he was always running after the cat. Arowan led him up the various floors, there were few guards roaming the halls, and none of them seemed to notice Arowan.
Tobi emerged into the dark corridor of the last floor. Arowan ran ahead, branching off toward a corridor to the right. Tobi ran after him, his path lit only by the compound lights coming in through the arched windows. It was weird, but Tobi thought the air smelled of cigarette. Arowan branched off to the right again, he wasn't slowing down, and Tobi had to run after him, ignoring the fact that there could be guards at any turn.
Arowan stopped right in front of a door in between three corridors. This is where Dara was being held. Arowan jumped through the door, as Tobi approached placing a hand on the latch. He felt a cool draft coming from under the door and then he turned the latch and pushed the door open.
Suddenly, a huge gust of wind blasted him off his feet, throwing off his hood as he skidded across the corridor floor. A pair of quick feet ran right past him. Tobi stood up groggily and looked just in time to see a form with white hair turn left into another corridor.
