PROLOGUE

Long ago, in a time before the gifted appeared into the world, the nations lived in tranquility. Kings ruled the lands, and the nations flourished, until that one event occurred that changed everything. A great explosion shook the lands, no one knew the source nor the cause of the explosion, and there was no fire or smoke associated with usual explosions. This one was different and unseen as it shook the lands across the world, echoing throughout the kingdoms.

Not long after, creatures of various shapes and sizes, alien to the world, where sighted at different locations, terrorizing people and driving them away from their home lands. Kings and leaders of the world joined forces to tackle the problem of what was soon known as the Great Rift Explosion. Men fought bravely against the alien creatures, but it wasn't enough, and man was driven to the brink of extinction.

Years went by and salvation was brought into the lands. Men and women of unique abilities appeared, giving humanity a fighting chance; they called themselves the children of the great queen - Etana.
These children of the queen formed an alliance and fought valiantly against the alien creatures, gradually gaining ground for humanity and pushing these creatures away, forcing them into hiding.
For their valor and courage, the leaders of the world recognized these gifted ones and accepted them as gifts from the gods, granting them major privileges.
The alliance formed between the gifted children of the queen remained - being funded by the world leaders- to ensure that those alien creatures did not take over again.

However, these creatures were not fully driven off as some of them lurked around dark places, occasionally appearing and causing mayhem.

It was a bright and sunny day again today, Zuri paced behind his mother down an aisle on the cornfield as she harvested the corns and placed them in the basket he was holding. Zuri was glad his mother had let him follow her to the cornfield today. Everyone was out harvesting corn for the village, and he didn't want to be left out, he was now of age, even Kumba, his best friend was out on the field with her mother today.
Zuri knew that his father and men of the village were out hunting, maybe when he grew older, he would be allowed to go with them. Everyone's spirit seemed to be high today as the women were singing, and the children were playing around on the cornfield, running in and out of the cover of the corn plants that were taller than them, as their mothers harvested the corns which gave a sweet rustling sound, making the music even sweeter. Zuri was especially happy today. His mother had promised to weave him a new tunic and loincloth to replace the childish gown he always wore. This one would surely qualify him as one of the men now, since it was what the men always wore to hunt.

Zuri was enjoying the song when suddenly, it was drowned out by a mighty scream coming from the other end of the cornfield. Zuri was too short to see what was going on over the tall corn plants. He assumed Kumba had done something again to crack up the adults, but these screams didn't seem like one born out of amusement, it seemed like a distress call.

Suddenly, there was the sound of feet running in their direction. Before he knew what was going on, his mother had scooped him up in her arms, and they started back towards the village. Zuri looked over his mother's shoulders to meet a terrifying sight. There was a man with huge horns like a bull's, hovering in the air with giant wings.

On the ground, people seemed to be falling as a man with long hair cut them down with his hands that looked to be in the shape of a machete. He had very long dreadlocks, and was wearing a strange looking red cloth. His eyes were terrifying, the parts that were supposed to be white were black, and the roundish ball that was in the center was extremely red.
