This was it. First day of being a Junior. Ruqaiyah was nervous about it; yeah, being Sophomore was also nerve-wracking, but not as this year. She still has one more chance, one more year so she could get a scholarship.
"Please, don't!" Uthman pulled her back to him as she tried to get herself out his tight hug. "Uthman, y'know that I have to! Stop being such a clingy baby and let me go!" she exclaimed, punching his chest that left him unfazed by it.
He only tightened his grip as he put his face in the crook of her neck as he nuzzled into it, taking in her scent. "I'm gonna miss you lots, Ruqaiyah. You were never out of my sight for even a minute ever since we started therapy three months ago and . . . I hope that you understand that it's hard," he mumbled.
She smiled. Yes, it would be hard on the both of them, but it has to be done whether they like it or not.
"I know, Uthman, I know. Don't worry, the time will fly by and you'll be able to see me for a whole day, but after school. Oh, and you big guy have to go to university or Mr. Bashar will end up scolding me for making you late! Would you like that?" she asked in a teasing matter.
"No, never, " he shook his head. She chuckled, "Okay!" Ruqaiyah waved at him as she left his arms, walking towards the school, saluting him
"Wa-alaikumus'salam!" he whispered to himself, bidding her a goodbye. He sighed, 'Ya Allah, this'll be impossible!'

Khadeja ran towards her best friend, engulfing her in a hug, when she saw her coming from the school's gates.
Stumbling, Ruqaiyah steadied herself. After laughing, she scolded her bestie, "Khadeja, please don't do that again, not to me, not to anyone! If Uthman saw what happened, he would kill you!"
Khadeja smiled at her sheepishly in apology. "Any school jitters?" she, Khadeja asked. Ruqaiyah nodded, "Yeah, a little." "How's Muhammad?" they started walking down the hall as she asked her bestie about her older brother.
"He always talks about Uthman that it's annoying!" "All I could say that boys will forever be boys!" "True!"

In Cambridge University, the cousins, conversed, "So Akhi, how's life treating you without Ruqaiyah?" Uthman groaned in annoyance. "Why is everyone and I mean everyone asking me about my life without Ruqaiyah going and I tell you what? It has been hell without her! It's just the first day and I can't handle it," he admitted.
