Part 14

Chapter 24 - The Ambush

It had been several days since Connor was officially made a part of the team by having the symbol engraved on his wrist, to the teams surprise, there was not a single attack since then, not  even an ominous message, they were getting suspicious of what was to come.

All five of them were on the roof, admiring the sunset of an autumn evening, talking about life and each other and how they don't miss their old life and all that sappy shit, until Connor spots a glinting light in the distance..

"Uh.. fellas.. and lady.. what's that over there?.." Connor pointed to the sunset and showed them the glinting white light he saw "..D'you think it's them? Or is it just a couple of dick'ead's messin' about with a mirror and the sunlight?" Shane took straight to calming him down and reassuring him that it's just a few stupid children

"Connor, stop worrying.. ok? They're just reflections from the sunlight.." The amount of lights got larger "..that's duplicating.." They got closer "..and are getting closer.." Shane face sank when he spoke his last sentence before rushing downstairs "..it's them, BARRICADE THE CASINO! THE TIME IS NOW DICK-WEEDS! PROTECT EACHOTHER AT ALL COSTS!!" He rushed downstairs and started barricading the door  with everything he could find.. once the others had found their way downstairs with a look that could only be described as "What The Fuck?!" he encouraged the others to do the same.. not as nicely as they would've expected "DO YOU WANT TO LIVE?!.." He didn't give them any time to answer "..I THOUGHT AS MUCH, SO GET UP HERE AND FUCKING HELP ME!!" He pulled them up to the door, his eyes were already bloodshot from the tension and was tearing up.. he pushed them up against the door and screamed at them "HOLD.. THAT.. POSITION!" He then began frantically piling stuff on top of them.. anything he could find, tables, ladders, chair, lamps, cupboards, shelves, empty glass bottles. The four that were piled on top of    nothing but rubble, sank into the shadows of the crap that was on top of them and reappeared in clear view of Shane, Connor had the balls to ask him what was going on..

"Shane? Why the hell are you acting completely batshit!? Surely there's an explanation for you acting lik-" He was cut off.

"I'M NOT GOING TO LET THEM TAKE YOU AWAY FROM ME!.." He fell to his knees and began to sob "..they took my parents from me.. and they're going to take you too.. I know they will.. that's why I'm blocking up the casino and keeping you safe.. I don't want to lose you, I know that if you're taken by Luke, you will die.." Shane was a wreck on the floor of the now empty games room of the casino.. the reason its empty is because everything that was in the room is now on the door, but that's not important.. Connor walked over to him and comforted him with the words he spoke.

"Listen you, you posh bastard, we're not going anywhere if we stick together, which means that you need to stop crying like a pussy and step up to us as our leader.." He stood Shane up and gave him words of motivation "..Who's the leader?" Connor asked

"I'm the leader" Shane replied softly.. Connor repeated

"I said, 'Who's the leader?!" With a bit more passion form Connor

"I'm the leader!" Shane replied, with a bit more passion

"I SAID, 'WHO'S THE FUCKING LEADER?!'" Connor shouted  

"I'M THE FUCKING LEADE-" The door was blown open and a familiar voice could be heard

"Guess who's here?!"
