CASSIE POV

It took me some time to get to sleep that night. I had moved to an entirely new place, discovered aliens existed, and had what I felt was a close shave with death all within a few hours of each other.

Mom was visibly shaken, Dad seemed to be questioning everything he'd ever known, and Rita, while startled by the experience, was still very much optimistic about this new life of ours. Still, they all agreed that this was a good decision and that over time all of this would just be something to laugh about later. Were they all in denial about what had happened? I didn't know for certain.

We had pizza delivered for dinner and sat on the floor of the living room, surrounded by piles of boxes yet to be opened and unloaded. Ever since I'd fallen and blacked out, I'd felt very woozy and tired, but I was also famished, managing to eat four pieces of pizza before I was satisfied.

"Wow, you don't usually eat this much unless it's the dead of winter." Mom teased, "You're not growing again, are you?"

"Let's hope not..." I mumbled, finishing off one of the crusts I'd saved for last. "I barely fit in doors as it is..."

"Did you see how fast that one bot swooped in to save you!?" Rita enthused, "I wonder if he likes you...!"

I rolled my eyes, "Yeah, right. That would be a sight to see walking down the street." My eyes shifted to the plate in front of me, "...Still, I probably should thank him for that."

"He did seem like a nice kid..."

Mom patted my shoulder, "Don't worry about it. I know today was a big of a crazy day, but I'm sure you'll feel better in the morning, and you don't have to worry about school until next week, so you have plenty of time to get settled in."

"Yay..." I mumbled, but managed a smile as she kissed my head. "I'm gonna hit the sleeping bag... Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Cassie."

I cleaned up my plate and then headed upstairs, brushing my teeth real quick before plopping down onto the sleeping bag and pillow. With one hand I undid my pontail, letting my hair go free. In the near pitch-black darkness of my bedroom, I stared out the window, the wispy clouds moving past and lit up by the moon. What was this life I was suddenly living? Even if the moon and stars looked the same here as back home, it felt like a whole other planet.

Did the Cybertronians ever miss their former home, way out there in the cosmos? Of course they did, they didn't belong here any more than I did. I was just as lost as they were...

I didn't mean to cry myself to sleep, but it happened. Tears are the body's way of relieving stress and built-up tension, and after a day like today, I had stress to spare. I shoved my face into the pillow and just let them escape, hoping that none of the rest of family heard.

Hoping that tomorrow really would be a better day.

SNOWBLAST POV

"Okay, open up."

I opened my mouth, letting Da poke around inside and shine a light all around. This was my fault, mentioning that I felt a little off had brought on a full-scale freakout from him, checking every possible part of me for disease and even some places I'd rather he hadn't checked.

"It's probably nothing." I informed as he finally let me close my mouth again, "I probably just used up a lot of energy forging that shield is all."
