CASSIE POV
The building was massive, but that was to be expected with it being a school for twenty-foot robots. It had only been a few miles away, but with Snowblast's condition deteriorating so quickly, it was almost dark by the time we made it even to the wall surrounding it.
"I'd figure this place has a security of some kind..." I whispered, looking at the towering wall Snowblast was currently leaning against. "...You got a key or something?"
"S-Security access codes...!" Snowblast hissed, one hand on his side.
I bent down to his eye level, "Any ideas on what's broken?"
"That's the problem...My diagnostics say nothing is...!"
"Then maybe your diagnostics are what's broken?"
"Ergh...Maybe..."
He lifted his head, looking up at the top of the wall. "...Elma, entry code RB-00010. Scan for acceptance into system."
Vocal ID... Confirmed.
I gasped as a light came out of the wall and then washed over me, and then it disappeared again. ID record accepted.
Snowblast gave a sigh of relief, and then I saw his eyes flicker and then dim. "...There goes my sight again."
"Just stay with me, okay...?"
The wall opened into a small door, and I dragged him through it before it closed up again. "Okay...Where's the door?"
"On your...Left. There should be a big circular disc on the ground..."
I saw it and pulled him over to it. "How do we get it open?... Wait, I see it."
There was a large button beside the door, much too big for me to push at this size. "Okay... How do we do this?"
My answer came as Snowblast pulled out his size-shifting disc and tapped it. I let go of him as he grew in size from human to his normal size...
...And then Snowblast held the disc out to me.
"You're kidding," I muttered as I took it.
"Trust me, Cassie..."
I nodded and then held it against my chest. It pressed against my skin, or perhaps was sticking to the metal under it, and then I pressed it. My skin tingled like a faint electrical pulse dancing across my arms and legs, and I shut my eyes as I felt the ground underneath me shifting as the proportions changed. It wasn't painful, I didn't even feel like my skin was being tightened as everything grew, but I was grateful to find my clothes had grown with me when I opened my eyes again. It hadn't even occurred to me until then.
I was now slightly smaller than Snowblast, and the button was a much easier size for me to use. My companion didn't even wait until I was ready, he just slammed his fist down on the top and the ground disappeared out from under us.
I screamed as I dropped, but my fingers managed to find the edge to hold myself up over a slick, shiny tube. I looked down at the rings of lights lighting my way, and then clenched my teeth as I let go.
It was like sliding down ice, but too warm for that to be the case. Aside from the sounds of my sliding and the occasional squeak as the tube would drop suddenly, it was almost completely silent.
I yelped as I slid out of the chute, landing on a concrete floor with a thud. I quickly collected myself and looked around the room full of crates and tarped boxes, but my eyes were focused on Snowblast, who was across the room and now on the floor shaking as he tried to pull himself up to his feet. "Snow, just stay put, okay...?"
