Little mermaid x reader

Chapter 7

(Reader's Pov)

When the lightning and the thunder started the men on the ship were running around and nearly trampling each other. They either climbed up the ship or were dealing with ropes on the ground floor.

"We have to go!, it's about to get a lot worse and we don't want to get mixed into it" I tried to urge Ariel. Ariel looked at me with a frown and turned away. I saw her knuckles go white where she was holding onto the ship.

"Aye lass, ye sisters right" Scuttle for once in his life agreed with me but Ariel ignored him too. I couldn't leave her so I had to stick around.

The next events went so fast that it felt like a dream. The rain pelted us like they were rocks, waves crashed against the ship with such force that it nearly tipped it over!.

The wind became so strong that Scuttle flew off and it nearly blew Ariel and me away too but we somehow held on.

The thunder and lightning got louder and more frequent above us so much that the thunder became defining. With the wind and the waves combined hitting us, it made Ariel and I lose our grips and let go, falling into the water. 

We resurfaced to see lightning hit the ship and start a fire on their big white things (Remember their mermaids so they don't know man stuff) but that wasn't the worse bit, no, the lightning started a fire on their ship while they, unfortunately, slammed into rocks hiding behind the massive waves.

I heard Ariel gasp in shock beside me but I didn't pay any attention as all my focus was on the burning/sinking ship.

We watched as all the men got into smaller ships which could only carry so many and pick others out of the sea.

I thought everyone was mostly fine at this point but we heard a noise come from the ship which turned out to be the weird fluffy creature who was stuck with fire licking at his feet.

"Oh no," I gasped, I didn't want to watch something die.

I went to pull Ariel away from the dreadful sight also not wanting her seeing this until I saw Princey jump out of his little ship and race onto the burning/sinking ship.

Ariel and I watched in anticipation until we saw Princey get stuck after saving the creature and be blown off the ship when it exploded.

Ariel and I gasped in horror and raced toward the remains of the ship. We weaved around bits of things off the ship when we finally came across Princey who was hanging onto a plank of wood off the ship barely conscious. When we swam towards him, his grip lessoned and he fell through the water. Being the first to react I jumped through the water, caught up to the sinking form of Princey, and carried him back up to the air.

 When I broke through the surface Ariel came over and helped me carry him to safety. We swam through most of the night with both of us taking turns carrying him until we came across land when the sun began to rise.

With our strengths combined, Ariel and I somehow hauled Princey out of the water and onto the beach. We placed him onto the beach as gentle as we could without hurting him and stayed there with Ariel on one side and me on the other.

Scuttle surviving the vicious storm we all experienced flew over to us and plopped down near Princey's head.

"Is... is he dead?" Ariel asked worriedly, she was the brave one out of us to ask the tough question. Ariel and I both looked at Scuttle for answers.

"It's hard to say," He said, shrugging his wings after looking at Princey's eye.

'Oh god please don't be dead, it would be too hard on my conscious'

While Scuttle was examining Princey to see if he was alive or not, I fixated on his face noticing slight bobbing movement. I shuffled closer to him and stuck my ear close to his nose luckily feeling Princey's breath hit it.

"He's breathing, He's alive!" I announced to the two with a wide grin. Ariel and Scuttle both broke out in excitement over the discovery.

The two wanted to hang around when he wakes up to fully see if he was ok but I convinced them that we don't want him seeing us. Both sulked away with scuttle flying in the air and Ariel Shuffling into the water.

I was about to do the same when I heard groaning from Princey. I snapped my head over to see him looking at me dazed and confused.

"Wh-o are you," He asked drowsily. I shuffled closer to him.

"Shh shh no talking, you have to go back to sleep now. You aren't supposed to see me" I whispered hurriedly to him but he just kept starring at me confused. Not knowing what else to do I began petting his hair, running my hands soothingly through it just like how mother used to do to me which always made me go to sleep.

(Song of course, not mine so credit to them. I found this while searching for a song for the reader to sing. You can, of course, change it to anything else you want but I really can imagine this being sung by the reader who is a mermaid)

While petting his head I suddenly remembered the song mum used to sing to me (yes I am going down that route, sorry couldn't think of a better reason for her to know it) and began lightly singing it to him. At the moment I began singing the sky cleared up and sun beamed down warming us. While singing we both stared at the eyes of each other, fully immersed in how they swirled with emotion and colour and I didn't just notice how lovely his eyes were, no, I also noticed the weird feeling in my chest.

When I finished the song, Princey was about to go back to sleep we heard barking from a distance coming towards us. I quickly crawled as quickly as I could to the sea and disappeared as quickly as I came.

I swam over to see Ariel and Sebastian arguing over at a rock facing where we just were. 

Ariel having enough of Sebastian's attitude turned away and watched Princey be dragged off by another man.

"We just wanna forget this whole thing ever happened" Sebastian began talking to us, ignoring the fact Ariel wasn't even listening.

"The sea king doesn't have to know, you won't tell him, I won't tell him, I will stay in one piece" I looked away from Sebastian and saw Ariel has climbed up on a rock and was dreamily watching the faint figures of Princey and the other dude.

"I don't know when"

"I don't know how"

"But I know somethings starting right now"

"Watch and you'll see"

"Someday I'll be"

"Part of your world"

Ariel sang lovingly, sitting up from the rocks with water behind her.

And at that moment, I knew Ariel fell in love making a range of emotions go through me, some I did not recognize.

While all this happened.

two sets of eyes stared at us from a distance.
