I MAINTAIN MY centre balance low as I walk, only using my toes and the balls of my feet first. Creeping along, I place my feet lightly on the wooden oak surface, concentrating carefully on how I shift my weight.

Then I stop.

With both hands flat against the wall, I warily peak my head around it to examine the next corridor along.

Empty, soundless.

Always check your surroundings.

I begin to emit slow and deep breaths. Steady, deep breathing activities the parasympathetic nervous system which decreases heart rate, I remember.

Fainter breathing equaled a lower chance of Vampires being able to track a heart beat, therefore this enabled a higher chance of survival against this supernatural being.

With the coast clear, I continue my noiseless walk again using my previous technique.

Yet. . . I still manage to throw all that out of the window.

My eyes shoot down to my right foot which happens to land on a harsh creaky part of the floorboards, I internally curse before screwing my eyes shut.

A sudden moment later, I hear a familiar gush of wind very near by which gets me quick on my feet.

My curls whip behind me as I run in a rapid motion towards the sports hall, I had to make it to the sports hall.

With worn out legs and a growing stitch in the side of my abdomen, I thrust the double doors open and stumble dreadfully into the unlit sports hall.

On entrance I'm tackled abruptly to the floor causing me to shriek and trip over my own two feet.

I'm down.

I plummet roughly onto my back, twisting and turning my captured wrists in every possible direction to try and break myself free.

But when the large, dark figure straddling my much smaller one pins my wrists above my head in a strong hold, I realise that my strength could never match his.

With large pointed canines and orbs glowing through the surrounding darkness, he hisses threateningly down at me. . .

"Somebody help! There's a Vampire trying to eat me alive!" I shout causing Jake to pause.
