"Scott wait!"
Jem thought for a second that the McCall stairs might break with so many people thundering down them at once. Stiles was at the front of the angry mob running after Scott, trying to stop him before he did anything stupid.
"Just think for a second!" Stiles tried again to get through to him. "Mason shouldn't be going"
"I'm Liam's best friend. I'm going" Mason added to Stiles comment, as though if were the most obvious fact in the world. Jem had hung back with Corey. She wasn't siding with him over Scott or anything like that, it was just that she could tell he was clearly shaken up.
If an older student she barely knew busted into a room she was sitting in and decided to hack into her brain without consent she'd be pretty pissed off aswell. She also knew he had to feel pretty uncomfortable in this gang of kids he didn't know at all, with the additional issue of the supernatural thing going on between them. This guy had just figured out about a whole other half of a world he probably thought he knew everything about already.
She knew she couldn't help that much, but she could at least make sure he was completely overwhelmed by making it clear that he could talk to her if he needed to. Though she had a feeling he might be more inclined to talk to Mason...
"Oh did you suddenly get super wolf powers?" Stiles responded to Mason's matter of fact statement. "I wasn't aware of that development"
"Well if you're not going-" Scott pointed towards Stiles. Jem wasn't getting any more appreciative of his attitude at the moment. "-I could do with the help"
"No I'm coming okay? Just as soon as I talk to my dad" Stiles tried to explain. Jem bit her lip, knowing the suggestion of Mason being some sort of sub for the usual human entourage had to sting. "They're moving the body, this time he wants to make sure no one steals it"
"How's he gonna do that?" Malia butted in bluntly. Trust her to ask the straight questions, particualrly the ones they all knew no one really had the answers to.
"I don't know" Stiles confessed. "but whoever took the last one was strong enough to flip my jeep"
For a moment Jem lost her concentration. Flipped his jeep. She hadn't been there when it happened, and no one had any footage... So why was she able to see it so clearly in her mind. But as quickly as she tried to latch onto the fleeting image in her head it had disappeared again. When she focused back on the conversation around her again Malia had her finger pointed at Theo, who Jem realised was standing very close to her.
"We can bring Theo" she suggested. Jem wanted to protest but she realised there was no reason too. Then she felt guilty about responding immediately with defence. She still had no hard reason not to trust the guy other than Stiles' intuition. But she still felt uneasy around the guy.
Scott raised an eyebrow in his direction, asking without words if he'd be okay with that. "Maybe I better stay here" Theo eventually responded and it surprised Jem. Until now he had jumped at every opportunity to get his foot in the door by trying to help Scott with every tiny little chore. "You know, in case the doctors decide to make a house call for Corey." He added. There was the 'responsible pack hopeful' part.
Everyone turned to Corey when he said it, realising Theo was probably right. The younger boy looked completely confused and nervous, as if he thought one of them were going to jump at his throat any second. Se tried to offer a smile but it probably came off as some distorted grimace because there was nothing light or smiley about the situation. She felt constantly nauseous at the fact that they had no idea where Liam was, or if he was even alive. It had been so long since a direct member of the pack had been at such high risk...
