Chapter 5 - Lee

Most people say: New day, new story. Sadly it is the same old story for me; working all day, suffering at night. Thats how my life is and sometimes it is harder to accept that. It is actually starting to become tough for everyone now. My mum and I are getting that gruesome punishment in a couple of long days time and my weak little brother is being brutally forced to do mine and mums tough-enough workload as well as his own. They are lovely here aren't they?

Why do we have to live like this?

We never meant to do anything wrong, honestly.

"Lee, are you awake?" Mum quietly called from the solid, brick wall. I could tell that she was desperate to talk to me, because of the willingness and the shakiness in her fragile voice.

"Yes I am mum. Is everything okay on your side" I asked, my palms were getting ready to open the door and escape from here to make sure she was alright.

"No, Lee help me!" She shouted through the wall. I could hear the sharpness of a whip crack with the air. I had to get there as fast as I could. I angerly pulled the door towards the wall, so that it would knock against it; mum would then know I was coming for her.

"Mum, mum hold on!" I shouted back to her while I stormed down the corridor, praying that she could hear me. As I approached the rusted door, my nervous heart was racing and my pulse was going as fast as a train coming down the track. What torture laid behind the bolted door? Both of my mud covered hands reached for the painted chipped door handle. It was weak and felt like it was going to break. What do I do if the handle breaks?

I will never be able to save mum...

"Lee, Lee!" Called a familiar voice from the other side of the door. But it wasn't mum. It must have been Olly, my little brother. Oh no, what are they doing to Olly?

"Olly, is that you little brother?" I asked to double check my findings.

"Yes it is. Brother please help us, mum and I are ......"

Why did he stop? It sounded like someone had covered his tiny mouth, so he couldn't ask me to help him. Who would do that?

Especially to a 7 year old. He shouldn't even be working in here, but one of the many legal laws for the 'amazing' area is that children older than the age of the 5 have to work hard to earn at least £3 a month. However that total is usually less than that, depending on work they have to do.

I find some of the legal laws ridiculous and because of this law, child abuse is going on in the workroom next door and it is all the idiot boss's fault for not controlling it this madness.

You know what I am going to do? I am going to march in there like a solder at war and find out who is doing this to my family and report them to the boss. * Justice should then come through.

I pulled the door handle * to make the creaking noise that always sends shivers down my spine. And then the magic began.

"Okay, whoever you are, release my innocent mother and brother and leave them alone, otherwise you would be faced with me!" I screamed dramatically. I managed to, but the result wasn't as I expected to be.

"Don't talk to me like that little boy!" A higher pitched voice replied to me and whoever it was, was coming closer to me as the seconds went by.

Oh no, this is much worse than I imagined it to be.

“This should teach you that you shouldn’t go where you aren’t wanted,” The annoyed voice stated before the room began to full with darkness.
