It was about one in the morning by the time we got home. I had left Natalia, Marcel, and Ethan at the hospital. Ethan, I could care less about, but it felt like I was betraying Natalia and Marcel.

I was finally back. Back in my house and back in my room. I quietly crept in through the bathroom window with the help of James pushing me through. Basically, squeezing my ass. This was probably the way Ethan kept breaking into my room. Those pervs.

I opened the bathroom door to my room slowly. Someone was sleeping on my bed.

James knocked over a toothbrush, scaring the life out me. I instantly turned around and gave him a look.

"My bad" he whispers.

"Why are you coming in?" I whispered back.

"I wanna see your crib..." he winks.

"Get the fuck out." I roll my eyes.

"Fine" he sighs and climbs back out, "...tomorrow we get ya' stuff, ight?" he reminds me.

I totally forgot about the room already, and it's only been a day and a half of being out of it.

"Okay" I whisper and close the window, locking him out.

I opened the door some more. It was my Mom sleeping. Her face was red. She's been crying a lot. I decided to wake up next to her in the morning and surprise her, before I heard a light tap against the bathroom window. My head jerks towards James, who was trying to get back into the room. I close the bathroom door and walk back to the window to open it for him.

"What?" I spit, annoyed to see him again.

"The police are out here. We gotta go, again!" he pulls my arm out the window towards him.

"What? No, I just got back!" I pull my arm away.

"You promised I'd be back. You promised!" I argue. I heard shuffling in my room.

"Who's there?" I heard a voice call out in my room. Oh shit. Mom.

"Let's go!" James urges as he pulls my arms again.

"You promised!" I pull my hand away.

"So you wanna stay here and get busted? Ight, stay" he turns around and starts to leave through the window, when I hear the steps to the bathroom door start to creak.

Mom. No.

I don't move. I was frozen. I was three steps away from the door, but one step away from the window.

If I stayed, Mom would be with me, but the cops would ask too many questions and if I say too much, I could be in serious trouble with Ethan. I would never see Natalia again, or Marcel. Especially, Marcel, after all he's done for me and his family. I didn't want to just disappear and return to my normal life while the rest of them continue their web of lies.

The door slowly started to open. I started to panic. James still hadn't left off the roof completely. He was sitting right in the middle of my view outside of the window. He sat there, smirking, wondering what my next move would be. Knowing that I changed my mind.

I quietly, but quickly, went out the window. James stood up shaking his head and held his hand out for me to take, but I scoffed at him.

"No thank you" I smile at him. He scoffs, too, and rolls his eyes.

I was turning around and reaching to close the window until the door was fully opened and Mom was standing right in front of me on the other side, facing me. I didn't move. Was she still sleeping?
