"Anna, you have to get away from me. They'll hurt you, they'll beat you like me." Danica orders.
"No, who are they? Danica, don't talk nonsense." I say.
"No, Anna, you don't understand. You need to get away from me. You'll get hurt if you don't."
"I do understand. Just let me help," I take a step towards her.
She wobbles backwards, "No, Anna, no. Stop. Stop!" She tries to scream, but her voice won't let her.
I start to tear up, "Danica, stop moving," I demand.
"No. I can't. I won't. I refuse."
I extend a piece of gum towards her, the kind that makes you stronger, "Danica, eat this."
"No, they'll make me hurt you if I eat that." She looks scared.
"Danica," I say cautiously, "Where are these people?"
She looks straight at me. "They don't exist."
"Danica, of course they exist. Who else would do this to you?"
"They don't exist," she starts to laugh, "they don't exist, they don't exist!"
"Okay, you know what, I'm just going to ask you a few questions about the people, okay?"
"Yes, yes, of course, of course..."
"Who are they?"
"I don't know." She takes a step towards me.
I take a step back, "Okay then where are they?"
She collapses in a series of laughter, "No, no. Why would little old Danica tell the young one where the people are? Why does the young one ask me things about the people who don't exist? Where are the people who beat me, who torture me, who control me."
I start to cry, "Danica, please come back to me, I know you're in there somewhere."
She looks up at me, the parts of her face that aren't bruised are pink from crying. "Anna, don't you understand, I'm never coming back."
"No, I'm going to find a way to get you back. Now where are these people, just tell me where they are and this can all be over soon."
"But the people, the brothers, the sisters, they know everything. They control my thoughts. Oh the irony, the irony of it."
"Danica, you're going to tell me right now where they are."
The order makes her break down in sobs. "No, please don't hurt me. Please, I don't know where she is. The girl, she took her somewhere, please, no, not the whip. I've told you everything. Everything! No!" She falls to her knees and begins to cry very hard, even though I've done nothing to her except stand where I am.
Do orders make her like this. I know I shouldn't, but I need to know where they are, so I take advantage of the moment.
In my best adult voice, I say, "Danica, where are we located?"
"Just north of Canada, Master Ian. Please don't hit me again." She trembles.
"Which part of Canada?"
"Why, the northeastern part, sir. I mean, Master Ian. I'm so sorry for calling you sir, it won't happen again. I promise."
Master Ian, Northeastern Canada, I make a mental note.
"Oh, and Danica," I say.
"Yes, Master Ian?"
"Is our location bug enough for someone to find it easily?"
"Why yes of course, if you know where to look."
"Okay. You are dismissed."
She comes our of her trance. "Anna, you don't realize what you just did. You just killed yourself."
"Danica, I'm going to help you. Go see the older version of me. She will help you." I offer.
"Yes..." She gazes off as she makes her way to my room, where Anna sits, probably wondering where I am. Boy, she's in for a surprise when she realizes that the girl with purple hair is real, and that she's Danica. The bracelet on my wrist vibrates and I look down. I see the numbers and letters changing.
Name:Anna Arangale Age:11 Weight:82.4lbs Mission: Master Ian
Awesome. Now I have evidence to prove I used Danica. This could get her killed. Dang it Anna!
How am I going to start my mission? I don't have any money, I don't have any transportation, and I don't have strength to get all the way to Canada. Wait, yes I do. My gum! I still have 14 pieces.
If I can get Anna's hospital card, I can get anywhere. So I start my mission by getting a hold of her card.
Here goes nothing, I think, It's gonna be OK, Danica won't die, I'm going to make it to the place where they tortured her, and I'm going to kill whoever this master Ian is.The only problem is, I'm only 11 years old. It feels like just a couple weeks ago I was 10. Time really does fly.
Okay, let's do this.
